Nah it wasn't just WoW. Many games were doing it. Plus I sold the card and made a $100 profit on it, so yeah.

I just need more VRAM.

seems odd you only gained 2fps in crossfire. Just bringing up something that maybe someone more knowledgeable can comment on. Would be a shame for you to buy two new cards and have the same issue. You also definitely need to overclock that cpu or it's going to bottleneck two bad ass cards. Besides, you can overclock for free

If you can hold off, in 6-8 months they will have videos cards that are 3 times more powerful than current ones.

If you can hold off, in 10-20 years there will be gpu's 10-20 times more powerful than current ones.

anyway, overclocking your cpu should give you a nice performance boost in wow, and yes 6950 crossfire sounds great for your monitor setup

I play games very rarely on my sigrig, and when I do, it usually consists of various Source games (see GMod), UT2004, or WoW. The only thing I lag with is WoW, frequently getting below 25FPS in very intense areas. The 6970 should help with this. I would also like to be able to max out Crysis with something higher than an 18FPS average.

Will the 6970 be the upgrade I've been looking for? Should I crossfire 6950s instead? Am I asking for too much? What say you, OCN?
It's not your GPU, I went from a 260 to a 6950 and no difference in FPS, it's all CPU bound. In WoW that is.

I would (and did) go with a 6950 and then did the HD 6970 mod which gives the same performace with a little less power actually
