my sister and i share a contract on a tmobile family plan. she used the upgrade on my phone to get her a lg optimus t, we were standing at the store when they swapped her phones out and she handed me her moto cliq.

the guy told me since i didn't have a data plan, that the phone wouldn't work at all, i popp'ed in my sim card from my wing, turned on the phone, viola, everything worked, he was a bit miffed and confused, tried explaining it to him, but it was beyond his 30 minute trainging video certification...

you don't "need" a data plan, but they wont let you get a discounted phone if you don't opt in for one when you "upgrade". where i live, i don't get access to 3g or 4g, i barely get edge, since i don't go many places where 3g or 4g is accessible, i don't see the point in buying a data plan, when like skripka, i have access to wifi thru out most of the day.

as for the honeycomb source not being readily available...oh well, i'm still having fun with the 2.3.3 gingerbread source trying to get everything to work correctly with the cliq

Excuse me, but those benchmarks are not made for dual core processors. This has been talked about many times over on many tech sites. Tegra outperforms iPad. Also the Tegra GPU alone rips the PowerVR GPU out of the water, no competition. Period.

Wow speaking of which I had no idea the Galaxy Tab had the PowerVR 540..... No wonder it performs so much better than my Droid X with the PowerVR 530 in Dungeon Defenders

He's talking about the iPad 2, which also uses a dual core ARM A9 configuration. Also, I'm pretty sure the SGX 543MP2 is way above the ULP's league. I believe the MP2 signifies a dual core set up, which gives some of the graphical tests, showing the iPad2 destroy products such as the Xoom, sense.

I cant believe all the hostility in here. The ipad is cheaper, with more options, has more apps and is about as open source as honeycomb. I guess its just cool to hate apple. I wish I didn't have to think for myself.
I agree with you that iPad 2 is cheaper, but this only because the xoom don't have a 16GB version. Anyway, the end-user problem is not that it is open source or not, it has nothing to do with the closeness of Apple which tend to allow only certain apps. Even if they are banning only apps in some areas, where they don't want competition, but these are signs of communism, and people don't want communism anymore. In the short run communism may look better, you are safe, you are secure, everything goes fine, but in the long run the system will not progress with other non-communism systems and it will be left behind.
