GTX 460 1GB cooling mod

Thread Starter
hey guys.
well i have 2 gtx 460 1gb sli and HAF x case so the first card is getting pretty hot while playing crysis 2 it goes to 78C and the 2nd one goes to 48-50C.
so i made an idea.
my HAF X door looks like this

so i was thinkin to remove the big fan it has pretty low RPM and fit new 4 fans.
i was thinking to buy those fans http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/ac...ap_detail.html the 1850RPM model.
but my question can i fit those 4 fans on the door?instead of the big fan?
and if so will my gpus temperatures decrease?

If there is physically enough room after removing the stock fan I think it will work. You might have to drill new holes and/or use zipties to mount them. I am not sure what the size of that hole is so its kinda hard to tell from the pic.

I would try adding a fan blowing from front of the caste to the back directly in front of the cards. A low speed 120 should do the trick.

If your temps drop with the side panel off,you will definitely see an improvement.
