Gtx 570 SLI cooling

Thread Starter
I am running two gtx 570's in SLi on an P6x58d premium mobo. I currently have them positioned in the first and third pcie slot running in x16, x8, x8 to give them some space for airflow. My question is, will I have enough space on the top card to mount an accelero extreme plus aftermarket cooler? The top card gets crazy noisy under load and I'm hoping to make it quieter, and if I can even do something for the bottom card as well.

I'm not familiar with your board offhand, but I seem to remember the Accelero taking up 2.5 slots or so.

Looking @ the board on Newegg, the AXP would block the second x16 slot (triple slot). So unless your case has room to put the second 570 in the last slot the AXP is not an option. It is a great cooler though (just sold mine ).

As long as you are running one in the bottom PCIe slot you have good spacing for an AXP on a card in the 1st PCIe slot. You would still have a slot in between the cards so the Accelero could get plenty of air. Just make sure your case has good airflow to get rid of the heat.

This is a very good combination because the reference card at the bottom exhausts the heat out the back so the AXP card doesn't get warm intake air.
