Definitely didn't try flashing to 6970, I didn't even have a chance! This was immediately after the Windows 7 install finished and I installed the 11.4 drivers. My computer (the one in this topic is my wife's) also has a 6950, but I was hesitant to flash to 6970 because of the possible VRAM issues, so I only unlocked the shaders which I will also do for this one once I get a replacement.

This 6950 is for my wife's computer that we built today so we can play online together. We've been anticipating this all week so I went ahead and requested a refund from Amazon and ordered an HIS 6950 2gb (the model I went with in my rig). This MSI should do alright in-game until I get the replacement tomorrow.

On a side note, we are both very glad we jumped into PC gaming, such a huge step up over consoles

Thanks everyone for the help!

I've never seen a bad card off the bat, but if yall just built that pc... You might want to check the rest of your build, because you could have the same problem with a different card. And you should have double checked the card in another pc, or vice versa considering you have a 2nd 6950 already. Btw, it is only artifacting in games or everywhere?

Btw, Amazon is sweet for returns. Good choice there.

The artifacting is everywhere, it literally appeared the moment I rebooted after installing the video drivers, which is the first thing I did after Windows 7 booted from installation.

Good idea on trying the card in my other machine. I'm already set for the return and ordered a new card, but I think I'll do it just for piece of mind. I'll report back.

Alright, typing this from my other computer with the MSI 6950 installed and the problem definitely still exists. I took a screenshot:

https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/phot...eat=directlink

And as expected, my HIS 6950 in her computer has absolutely no artifacting.

Yep. That card is a goner.

Off topic, my wife stays 10ft away from gaming. She was contemplating joining me on WoW (begrudgingly) as I was hooked to it. But I finally got bored of WoW and she sighed a huge relief ! lol ! Honestly though, I like the fact that she does not game. Keeps me from not forgetting the outside world.
