Comptability with amd phenom IIx4 955

Thread Starter
As you can see in my system specs below I have an AMD phenom IIx4 955 with a Nvidia 750a MoBo which has an am2/am2+ socket that is only compatible with DDR2 ram. I have just ordered these parts and now I am starting to doubt this CPU will be compatible with the MoBo. I am hoping to get a timely response so I can make quick adjustments to my order.

Thanks,
Marsico

You can put a Phenom II x4 in an AM2+ motherboard no problem, as long as the BIOS supports it. The Deneb's memory controller is compatible with DDR2 and DDR3

Ok cool thank you. I know its an older motherboard that's why I was kind of worried even though it does have an am2+ socket.

what board do you have?
model #?
the 955s (c2 and c3) are 125w cpus

if the board cant handle higher wattage cpu it will roast its mosfets or run it on 2-3 cores or a lower speed

Board TDP rating according to XFX is 95W. And for good reason - I have searched and found 1 or 2 VRM failures on this board.
