Getting a nice pair of headphones

Thread Starter

I looked around a little and I think i'm going to go with these

. I want a nice pair of headphones for gaming and was told these were pretty beast. I wanted to see if anyone knew of any other headphones that are better around this price range. I was also looking at the HD555s.

None are better in the price range for a long way up.

HD555s are it's only competitor. I prefer the AD700s over the HD555s. There are some things the HD555s do better in gaming that the AD700s don't, but generally and for the most part the AD700s are going to do it better.

I also dislike the Senn's sound. Sounds dead and boring to me (but this is subjective.)

I haven't heard either but I have big brothers of both: the ATH-AD2000 and HD595. The 555 can be made into a 595 (acoustically) by removing a foam rectangle inside.

The 595s are my go-to headphones for gaming and other media besides music. They're comfortable for long periods of time and they're great at spatial cues for games- I use them in conjunction with Dolby Headphone processing via my Xonar DX. A friend has the 555 and they sound the same as the 595 after the foam mod. FYI I am "MCC" on head-fi, the last picture on the post linked to above is mine.

I have no opinion of the ATH-AD700 other than that I've heard great things about them.

Edit: I agree with Simca, the 595s do sound a bit "dead" esp. in comparison to the Koss KSC-75 or ATH-AD2000.

Those should definitely satisfy unless you are a basshead.
