WICKED Strong Mushkin 996805!

Well unfortunately I had to RMA one of the sticks in my Dual Channel kit, but i had some fun with just the one stick in.

CPU-Z!

Check out the timings and speed!! I'm also able to have the RAM operate at 1800MHz CAS6!!

I don't because I loose performance from having to clock my NB down to about 2900.

MY QUESTION!

Once I get the other stick back in, will i most likely have to dumb down the timings and speed? OR do you think I will see similar results?

I'm not strong in RAM, but I believe the extra stick will put additional load on the IMC which might make it unstable.

Even if it doesn't, there's a good chance the second stick won't be as good.

I say likely get similar results
ICs should be similarly binned across Mushkin kits. They don't grab bag a lot like G.Skill does. You probably god a very good kit of PSC there.

2 DIMMs vs 1 DIMM really doesn't make any difference on the IMC. Only when you bump it up to 4 DIMMs does it start to become a problem and even then this only happens on certain chips i.e. C2 revision. By all means I would take dual channel at slower RAM speed rather than single channel at higher RAM speed anyway. Better RAM speed/timings doesn't double your RAM bandwidth, but dual channel does and it can be an important difference.

Sweet, thanks!

Also, with my current 1 stick, MaxxMEM reports speeds of about 9.6GB/s with 47.7ns latency.

Will I see a nice improvement with both sticks?

You'll see it most definitely - for single channel that's pretty high, with dual channel I'd expect you to be closer to or breaking the 11GB/s barrier; you'll definitely see increased snappiness/load times in real life though.

go for 1800 7-9-7-24 with 2900 cpu nb. I broke 14 gb/s with that setup on my 555. Same kit of ram pretty much. Binning might be slightly better on the redlines idk.

Interesting....

So far the other stick seems wicked strong too, didn't boot at 6-8-6-16, but it did an overnight memtest with no errors @ 6-8-6-18

I will post a screen shot of some results, and also bios timings
