4 or 5 series...

Was just wondering which card out of the 4 and 5 series comes out on top, not just performance wise, but overall. I plan on going sli and maybe even go with 3 if i cant wait for the next gen haha. Ill be going with the UD7 for my mobo so id rather a single and not a dual. So whats your choices? Tell me your reasoning, wether it be overclocking, price tag, heat, ectect Thanks guys. Also i want one thats able to go 3d just to have that option(not sure if all the 4/5 cards can)

Well that also depends if you like maxing out your games completely. Since you like single card, I'd say GTX 580 or 570. 580 is very good, bout the same as my gtx 470 sli(roughly). 570 can be had for around $200 cheaper and is also very good. GTX 560 Ti is sorta like a 470, but slightly better performance at $50 less than the 570.

These are just my opinions, so don't take it too seriously

There are plenty reviews you can read about the 5xx series(I like hardware canucks, guru3d and anandtech) and the 4xx series(lotsa heat!).

Best price for performance comes from AMD cards for sure.

What resolution are you going to be playing at? It's idiotic to go 3-way SLI / Trifire if you play at 1920x1080.

My pick would be a HD6870, 6950 (only if your resolution is greater than 1920x1080) or 460, 560. 2 of any of those cards would be perfect for 3D gaming.

Dont seem to recall what the resolution is for 3 alienware optx 23inch monitors, but thats what id be using... As well as maxing out the graphics on all types of games, from blackops to metro... I perfer nvidia so amd is out of the question... was thinking something between the 470 480 or 570 580... in terms of performance and all that stuff. Just which of those would be the best, i know the noise and heat were a problem with some 4XX no?
Thanks again guys
