Sorry to say he fails: doesn't matter how good a game is, if people are given opportunity to get it for free and avoid paying $60 they are going to take it. Most of the people want to get something for nothing: it's the basic human phsycology.
People are human, no matter what. Nobody's mouse hand has a zombified mind of its own to hit the "download" button.
You won't get every last person; that's just unrealistic. But taking a glorified worldview of everyone when you've personally met no large proportion of pirates is going way too far. I think people make choices, and I think they make them for a reason.
