phenom 2 x6 1090t BE (overclocking)

Hi all been a while since iv posted

Iv just dropped a 1090t into my machine an seem to have come unstuck

For some reason i am unable to change the multiplier from 16x and the clock speed seems a bit iffy to

apparently this is a known issue with the crosshair 2 motherboards and the 2607 bios (im not the only one with this problem)

That aside i have managed to crank it up a fair way with 247 @ 16x with 1.4725vcore , its stable and running way cooler than my 965 did its only hitting around 30c acording to Coretemp

However Heres the thing
On a bench mark (3dmark 06) i am only showing about 5% over the 965be

3dmark 06 Score 20964 marks (phenom 965 BE @ 3.90ghz)
3dmark 06 score 22060 marks (phenom 1095t BE @ 3.94ghz

I dont seem to be able to get any more speed out of, if i up the clocks it just falls over

The ht is locked at 2ghz
NB clock and muliplier on auto

I also had to disable a load of crap in bios to do with this turbo core mode

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light here or maybe help me get a bit more than a 5% upgrade im pritty cheesed i just sold my 965 and put the extra up to buy this cpu and i feel totaly cheated

You did a benchmark that isn't programmed to utilize six cores--one that more than likely uses only a single thread--with an additional 40mhz of overclock. I'd say you did rather well. If you want to see a bigger difference, try running benchmarks that involve video encoding, code compiling, or anything that's geared at stressing the CPU, as opposed to just your graphics card.

3DMark 06 will in fact use all 6 of his cores. If you really want to be able to tell the difference between your 965 and your 1090t, then look at the "CPU Score" in 3D Mark06. There should be a huge difference between your two CPU's there.

You could also run Wprime32 (version 1.55) to give you a good idea of how much better the 1090t is, just make sure you go into the settings and tell it to use all 6 cores.

Just for some reference, my 955 @4.2 ghz would complete wprime32 in 9.328s, but my 1055t @ 4.24ghz can do it in 6.005s. Also, in 3D Mark 06 my 955 would get a cpu score of ~6000, while my 1055t can score ~7700 while both are at 4.2ghz.

Not really sure how you can get more performance, but just thought I'd say CoreTemp isn't really that accurate for X6s, HWMonitor is apparently better.

I cant get that kind of speed out of mine , how much Vcore are you giving it an with what cooling? iv only got a cooler master V8 on mine so i cant go stupid on vcore , BUT coretemp seems to think im running about 30c even under load??? my 965 was more like 44-48 at the same voltage with the same cooler

I'm running mine at 1.45v, but it's on water cooling and it's a particularly good chip. Also, the temp sensors on all of the x6 chips are off by about 10C, so your'e going to have to add 10c to the temp you're seeing to get the true temperature.

damn thats a very good chip!

ok well HWMonitor is also say 30c so if i say 40c thats still well within tolerance its about 65c max isnt it??

anychance of some more info on your settings ie
NB speed
HT speed
Nb voltage
Sb voltage
Clock and multiplier etc

It's 62C I believe, but you will start to have stability issues at anything above 55C usually. Is your's hitting 40C under load? Because that still seems way to low for your v-core.
