Bring down 8800 Temps? - Page 2

Reapplying thermal paste, I got it down from 97 to at first 75.. but, then after prolonged use I managed to get it back up to 92.

I am still over all happy because, It only took roughly 30 minutes to get it to 97 and I have personally (before giving it to them) gotten it as high as 104.

so.. I think the temps will hopefully become stable under 90 after the thermal paste sets in a bit more.

Also the card is a BFG card and I read that BFG actually released a bios update that tweaks the fans more.. I prefer to use it to rivatuner (I personally got bad results from it).. Although Now I can't find that update x.x

I can understand not wanting to spend money on a card that's 3 years old, especially one you gave away to someone else. I would completely disassemble the card. Blow out all the dust. Replace thermal paste with a good quality paste. Use Afterburner or similar to configure fan speeds. Check to make sure its not set to force 3D Performance 100% of the time. It should drop voltage and temperature at idle and minor 2D usage.

Well I don't think the people I gave it to want to spend any money on it either lol.

Already stuck Arctic Silver 5 on it.. may check out afterburner or what not.. I just hate manual configuration of fans.
