Running above 60FPS on 60Hz? - Page 5

I use both 120hz and 60hz screens (see sig), but the 60hz one is IPS, and the 120hz is TN. I can say that without a doubt the 60hz screen feels extremely sluggish once you're used to 120hz.

The 60hz IPS TV I use feels 'sluggish' compared to the 60hz tn monitors I have, but I put it down to input latency and small amounts of ghosting inherent in most IPS panels.

I've used a 120hz monitor with frames being displayed at over 120fps and I personally noticed no difference whatsoever.

However, as someone said, there are 2 possible advantages to rendering over 60fps.

also, people saying that people can see more than 60Hz on a TFT panel that is only being fed 60Hz are idiots, plain and simple.

What do you mean by it lowers performance?

In any of the games I have played, basically what would be 140 fps [with variation] stays at a solid 75 fps [75 hertz screen]. That is certainly not a PERFORMANCE reduction. Your computer is performing just as it would without Vsync, however it just caps the framerate to prevent screen tearing. Correct?

Edit: Not saying that capping FPS fixes the problem, but it is just a side-effect.

It almost mind numbing to think that some people are trying to say that human vision is FPS limited. We don't render frames in real life, you don't have a FPS limit in real life. Yes monitors limit what FPS you are currently viewing but its solely monitor limited not an issue with human physiology. kookoo.gif

The cells in our eyes have been quantitatively measured, and, as far as my knowledge stretches, some fire at 250hz whereas the ones that see colour fire far slower.

So it's not 'mind numbing' to think that some people are saying it's FPS limited, it's just very slightly wrong.

I'd have to agree with this. It's hard to describe it unless you've seen it in person, but the difference is very noticeable to me.

Finally got my 120Hz and it has 2 dead pixels and is bleeding from the top. Amazon was kind enough to do a advance replacement and they paid for all the shipping. 1 Day shipping to me too. Hopefully I don't get another pixel filled one.
