What would be the recommended compound to go with? Or a more modern solution sort-of-speak?

I use Arctic MX-2, costs the same as AS5 so I figured why not.

From what ive seen this is just an AMD problem because of their socket design. I have no issues with my Intel chips because they are locked in their cages.

Right now the best thermal solution you can get is Indigo Extreme.
