O'Cing my Intel Pentium D 820

Thread Starter
This may have posted due to the age of this processor.

I'm new to overclocking and I was wondering if anyone knows how to overclock an intel pentium D 820 processor. I went to system setup and I couldn't get to CPU ratio option or something like that because my PC's manufacturer isn't savy on overclocking there products.

Is there a software for overclocking my processor? And again, I apologize for my lack of overclocking.

Your ratio should be at its max already, you'd need to adjust the fsb instead. Also, I don't know if it's just the board my pentium D is on but running the RAM 1:1 reeaally makes a difference. It brought my superpi 1m time from 1 minute 52 down to 41 seconds. I don't know if it helped in other apps but it sure as hell helped for that.

Edit: If you've got a prebuilt PC I doubt they'll allow the end-user to potentially destroy their PC and return it under warranty so it'll probably have a cut down BIOS.

how do I get to my FSB? I've been going to the boot menu and I couldn't fiddle with anything as much as multi-core enabling options

Sorry, was editing my post there. Unfortunately, having owned a HP I know most manufacturers block overclocking. The link posted earlier is a BSEL modding thread and might be your only option. I'll find another one in two minutes. I think there was a good one on XS.
Edit: I think it was this one actually http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...mod-guide.html

You cant mess with it. Its an OEM board with stripped down options so that you can hard overclock/raise voltages and etc. You'll have to look for a soft OC program that supports the E510.

I was hoping for software mod, but if this is the best possible option. I don't think I can do it.

Well you could try setfsb or something but a friend of mine has the same problem with a dell motherboard and an e6300 and setfsb doesn't work on his board :/ It's probably a different board though so it's worth looking into.
