NEVER EVER TRUST BEST BUY. They are stupid and don't know anything about electronics. They tried to sell me a processor that wasn't even compatible with my motherboard (i5 2500k) and told me it would work fine. good thing i'm smarter than them. Well anyway GL with your TV take it back to worst buy and yell at them.

The problem with this is that most of the time we don't actually know how these TV sets made it to the retail stores from those trucks but I had read somewhere that most have the boxes laid down and stacked on top.

For the guy that bought the Plasma, if it was laying down when you took the set home from best buy you have to wait a few hours for the gas to settle down before power/turning on the set.

Go 1080p for 42" or above.

Also, plasma offers a superior picture quality to lcd, but plasma requires more calibration either with a dvd(DVE) or by a technician. If you just try to do it eyeballing it you may end up with a worse picture. LCD's look good and eye popping right out of the box, but won't offer the same detail as a well tuned plasma. Also many plasma owners recommend breaking in the set for at least 250 hours with a "break-in" DVD that helps set the colors and prevents IR.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=583089

Since most people aren't willing to do all of this, I usually just recommend LCD. I have both, but my Panasonic plasma looks way better than my Samsung LCD.

yeah, its going back - which one would you get from these 2? Why is the 60hz more money then the 600hz? See link

The 60hz is 3d thats why it costs more. Go with the 600hz. At that speed the picture is almost constantly moving and really reduces the chances of burn in.

+1 on this. 2/3 of my TVs are 720p Plasmas and they look great in HD or Blueray. I say go for it and don't look back.

Plasma is by far superior to the LCD's or LED's on the market today.

Plasma will put off more heat than your rig. The difference between 1080p and 720p on a bigscreen from normal viewing distance is hardly distinguishable. I would recommend 1080p if you would use that screen as a monitor.
