i rather have real competition, competive prices, instead of fakebenchmarks, biased reviews, fanbois using the glory of 6 years ago as proof that some how amd will "rise again", and Bulldozer is some how the cpu messiah that is going to save us all from the "evil" intel chipmakers and their "excessive" pricing...

yes it would be bad if intel became a monoply cause amd went under or something, but it is SAD when intel gains a monoply when their direct competitor can't compete. intel prices reflect amd's failure to compete, i hope Bulldozer is a somewhat competent architecture, and gives intel a run for their "money", so prices will come down. 2006-2008 was a great time when core2 architecture came out, and when intel was trying to "win" back the droves of users who flocked to the amd banner, these last few years have been a horrible time, and it was all cause amd has failed to remain competive against intel in this regard.

as for amd gpu's, i do believe they have been far superior in the last few years than to nvidia's offerings, they are priced well and better performers in the price range against their counterparts.

if you look in my sig you will see i'm still running a nvidia 8800gt, not cause of some delusional fanboism that nvidia is great or that the 8800gt is still a "awesome" card, there is one undeniable fact that remains when i look at purchasing a new graphics card, amd's support in linux is hideous, and nvidia's current offerings offer real no advantage to go to, for a non gamer...also when i fire up windows and do play games, most of the games i do play suffer from the cutely coined "consolitis" so it would just be a waste of money to buy a new graphics card to play mediocre rendered/textured games.

i have to agree there, based on the current benchmarks and reviews, if i had to choose, i think it wouldn't be a loss to choose one over the other, since they are almost identically priced, as for the OC'ing going boom problem, not one for me as i don't OC gpu's

there is no denying that amd produces a good card, at good prices, but to say it is offering the "clear" winner, is a bit arrogant and not supported by the current evidence...

Does AMD hold the SINGLE GPU crown?

Let's compare the 580 vs 6970.

And.... see 4:05

Still 6990 is the "fastest" card around.
The 580 is fastest single gpu around.

Do you ever base any of your opinions on statistics? Or do you just ooze so much fanboyism that you have no logic?

The 6990 and 590 are only separated by 38W, not the 115W you claim. The 6990 is more efficient when ran at the 830 clock too, and more efficient when both are overclocked.

I seem to remember you banging on about how good the 480 was when everyone else complained about noise and power consumption. Amazing that those factors now count for something to you when nvidia finally is superior in them for once.

Did you watch the video, I didn't see any screen flickering with the 590 running, but at 4:05 with the 6990, Linus couldn't even run the benchmark.

If they want to claim the fastest GPU crown, shouldn't it be faster at everything, convincingly?

When we compare the 580 to the 6970, the 580 is convincingly faster, can we say the same for the 6990? NOPE. Also, who in the right mind is going to run the 6990 on AIR? You're going to need to put it under water if you value your hearing.

I looked up 2 random reviews, and cherry picked some benchmarks. Is the 6990 convincingly faster? Yea, didn't think so.

Need I say more?

IMO, neither card can claim the fastest GPU crown, they both have their pro's and cons, neither of them is convincingly faster over the other. Clearly, the cards trade blows.
