WHY on earth did Nvidia rush to release this card? If they had delayed it a month and actually did a proper VRM design (hint hint MSI msi lightning - it doesn't cost that much and no one cares about the 300w per pcie slot anymore). Sure they would have lost some sales, but at least they would hold onto the no.1 crown. Especially if it could OC to healthy 900+ core - or even 1ghz

Then I would drop serious $$ on this card. But as it stands, I would much rather get SLI gtx 580 (msi lightning is only $480 a pop and reviewers are easily getting past 950mhz)

I think it Nvidia would have been better off doing a 560x2 card.

Hell, this!!

"GTX590's cores are faster, they are stronger blah blah faonboi arguments blah blah".

The thing is, you overclock them, they blow. Ergo, you can't overclock them. Ergo, even though noisy as hell, the HD6990 beats it.

Like some wise man said, 2x GTX570 at stock speeds would've been faster. And cheaper.

neither the 6990 or the 590 are the fastest. They are tied for first, both winning different and losing the same amount of benchmarks.

So AMD finally has something up on Nvidia, actually up on anyone else (who matters)

Good for them. Competition is good and I hope both these companies go at 'er for awhile

^^^ What's with this "Finally" garbagia Charlie? AMD may have owned ATi but ATi still ran the company until AMD had enough of it and made it 100% official. 6*** series is THEIR baby and it's a 6990 that just whipped NVidicaca's GTX590. Only way that card can hang now is to rely on Benches that were made specifically for NVidicaca GPUs'.

What are you talking about? Have you even USED an AMD driver?

I think you mean ATi. That side of things is dead now. I'm pretty sure that the AMD drivers are pretty solid. I've run every last one of them since AMD started cranking them out and they leave ATi drivers in the dust.

Of course AMD also gave us Multithread drivers to allow unused cores on my CPU to carry some of the burden that the GPU normally carries. I'm in 11.2 right now and I haven't heard one person have issues with it. That's not to say that it's perfect, but I don't notice any lag when I'm playin any NVidia games.

Well anyway not to pick a fight but I think you're overcompensating for NVidia. My bad maybe you do use them... but I don't see how you can take a dump on AMD drivers when you have to know how bad ATi drivers were.
