Would it? I was under the impression that dx9 is smoother than dx11 but dx11 is smoother than dx10.

Anyhow, what is the problem with the "smoothness"?

No, no, DX11 is smoother than both DX9 and DX10 if no effects are added and DX11 is properly implemented. They optimize performance with each version and create new, more effective, ways of rendering things. It's only because of poor implementation and added effects that DX10 and DX11 is slower than DX9. Actually, if you look at Far Cry 2, you'll see that DX10 performed BETTER than DX9 because it was used properly in the Dunia engine.

Does it need DX11? To look hands down better than the original (which a lot of us were anticipating)? Yes. Will it? We'll see.

Extreme, probably. I have three options in mine (I don't know if these options change at all): High, Very High, and Extreme. I'm using Extreme, and I still want more. Perhaps I'd be satisfied by "Extremely extreme".

Edit: Crysis 2 should be optimized with and for DX11. It's freakin' 2011 for cryin' out loud. They started making Crysis 2 after DX11 came out.

I think that if they had taken advantage of DX11, then it would look way better than the original instead of looking worse.

Is Crysis 2 even using DX10 like the original? Or is it strictly DX9?

Guys need to stop complainging. Crysis 2 as a whole is a great game and in order to make something work on the consoles you got to make sacrifices....but Crytek may have made 1 too many though.

Ah ok, but in almost all the games I own, if I force them to run in a older dx, it used to increase the FPS. Like TF2 I used to run at dx8 on my laptop to make it nice and smooth. Farcry 2 is an interesting one, but that was built for dx10. So dx11 on crysis 2 would likely decrease performance as it would "add" rather than completely redesign.

Anyhow, I think performance is the least of their worries, it performs really well!

Yes, DX11 in Crysis will likely be used to add horrendously taxing effects.

Also, there's an obvious difference in view distance/pop in, AA and bloom on the different Crysis 2 presets.

They should have made the PC version first and then downgraded to consoles, not the other way around.
