28 nm´s main improvment points are not horsepower...I mean you would have to define that word in relation with gpus first but the main factors are just more efficiency, compatibility and better handling.
Nvidia wants to enhance heat development, power consumption levels and of course in combination with that more performance and very important more efficient performance due to 28nm architechture and structering which is supposed to allow all these points together.
A game is just coding with the main purpose of using a card , CPU and RAM to its advantage in order to be depicted at a certain quality level considering the hardware it is operated with.
Unfortunetly primitive drivers, pedantically coded games and shallow hardware use of the games prevent the full utilization of the graphics card.
And even though Precision shows 99% gpu usage it is really only 40%
Personally I think that fact is intentional and thought through in order to convince or even trick people into always buying the latest hardware or to easier fall for the newest advertisement strategies.
I was very much disappointed regarding that matter in Crysis2.
For months they created more and more hype with their extreme cool trailers making us anticipate an even better gaming experience than the first two products.
People start creating threads about the minimum hardware requirements etc etc all that just kept feeding the hype until everbody was absolutely confident it would become the best game of the year.
Then finally at the release what do we get?
A console ported crap with which 90% of the players get random BSOD,display driver crashes, weird flickering of almost any water or ground parts ,almost not graphic altering settings and worst of all the game itself wasn´t that great either, it felt to me like a run through with very little love in it.
At this point the game development isn´t very advanced.
Crysis2 is just a frustrating example for that fact.
The developers create a great game,do a lot of effort and the company including themselves earn a great reputation and fame.
And with their next sequal they abuse that fame and reputation in a complete disregard of all their fans and admirers and create **** transfered from the console with 5 minute coding translation smack some new textures on it then call it a game. hoping that by showing some well designed trailers people will fall for it because the predeccessosr were great.
I call that blunt and evil manipulation and absuing of honest supporters of the company crytek.-.-Edited by Kung Pow - 3/28/11 at 3:01pm
