Need abetter OS hard drive and more memory

I need a faster OS hard disk and some more memory for my sig rig.

My current Maxtor disk seems to slow down when doing multiple disc reads /writes (Especially when I'm running a VM of Win7 in Ubuntu) and is pretty slow overall. My budget for a hard disk is around $100 and it has to at least have 80gb of storage. Is there anything that gives a ball park estimate comparison vs ssd, ssd raid0, hard disk sata ii, hd sata ii raid 0, etc.

I also need more memory as well. Would adding another 2gb stick to my existing 2x2gb set lower the performance of my memory at all if it was the same brand/type? I don't oc the memory past stock but would the third stick affect dual-channel?

Adding memory if it is the same brand/type should be just fine for memory settings... but you may have some trouble running at 1066 (in which case lower to 800Mhz and tighten timings; this may not be the case with DDR2 on C2 rev as much as DDR3 though, I've seen C2 rev processors take 4 DIMMs of DDR2 up to 1150Mhz). Adding only DIMM rather than two DIMMs would be particularly useless though. The two DIMMs you have will if in the correct slots remain running in dual channel, however if you start using more than 4GB, interleaving wipes out and all your memory is limited to single channel performance - this halves your bandwidth and can be a significant loss to all-around performance. The performance loss of using more than 4GB may not be worth having more than 4GB depending on what you do. The best option would be to have 2 DIMMs or 4 DIMMs, that way you have dual channel no matter what really.

I'm probably going to just buy another 2x2gb since Newegg only stocks the 2x2gb of 1066. I use my VM to run programs like Photoshop and Indesign so I need at least 2gb of memory available to my VM alone.

Also I've been looking at sata III drives and they are pretty cheap. Here's some solutions in my price range:

Which one of these would provide the best performance?
