HD6850 need S-video out need, help

Thread Starter
I am to my wits end. I upgraded my Q9550 + HD4770 to a H67 i2500 + HD6850.

How can I get an S-video output for my TV? I have a DVI to VGA adapter. And a VGA to S-video adapter, but I am told this won't work.

I am currently using the intel GPU and don't want to unbox this HD6850 if it is going to prevent me from watching videos on my old tube TV.

Would it be possible to by a cheap video card with S-video output and install that along side the HD6850? Or would that be a driver nightmare?

Well it seems that HD6850 has one analog DVI port. So I am going to try it. I'll report my findings for any other tube TV rebels out there

No go.

It looks like if you want to use any video card with signifigantly better performance than an HD4770, you must have an HDMI input TV.

Sucks 'cause this wasn't in my plans. Considering selling the 6850.

Yea, s-video output is pretty much impossible to find on any newer card.

I don't know why you could not install a second card with s-video out to use for the tv.

I have an older KWorld PC to TV converter box, and it works to exactly what you're doing here. Heres one like it.

If you motherboard has another PCI-E 16 slot you for sure can install a second video card for S-Video. Just make sure your 6850 is in your main PCI-E 16 slot (usually the slot closest to your CPU)

I have my 4850 as my main card and a 8600gt as my secondary card for my third monitor. My TV has VGA input though so I use the 4850 VGA out just because the 8600gt doesn't work well with 1080p video files.

So ya my computer has two sets of video drivers, one from nvidia and one from ATi. But windows 7 handles it fine for me. You should be able to do it no problem.

get a new tv

In all seriousness though, they are getting pretty cheap if you go used or something. Specially used rear projection sets, check craigslist or classifieds
