arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev.2 problems

Thread Starter
Anyone own a arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev.2... The most rpm I get on this cooler is 1800-2000rpm. The box stats say it can reach 2500rpm. The extra 500 rpm can help me a lot with my overclocking. Is there a way to get that extra 500 rpm or is it just faulty and if so should I get it replaced...

lol welcome to the fail ship..

mine is exactly the same way. i actually had to RMA my first one because the fan wouldnt stay spinning.. but my new one goes between 1900 and 2000 which is fine. it was a cheap cooler so theres not much to complain about but yea you cant really do anything to get more RPM's i tried.. lol

I also have a zalman 9500, but its put on my other computer. Is it worth switching coolers. What kind of performance increase is there between the two?

Crabtree - please go into your UserCP, look on the left and find Add System. Then fill in your system specs. In particular, if we know your mb we could help more.

One thing you might try: if your fan control is on Auto, disable the fan control and see what rpm's you get. You may not be getting your cpu hot enough for your mb to run the fan to its max.

Arctic Cooling fans take alot of power and the Freezer 7 Pro is no different. Your board's headers probably can't give it the power it needs to get to the stated RPM.

Done.

I've tried testing it during max load and it still shows the same speed 1800-2000rpm. I don't think its auto. It stays 1800-2000 all the time during idle or max load. If I'm not getting enough power, how do I adjust it to get more power?

You won't get it more power unless you connect it directly to the psu. That was going to be my next suggestion anyway. But it looks like your fan isn't going to go much faster.

<shrug> Well, it is a cheap cooler. Mine's sitting and doing nothing ATM.
