[IW] Samsung Galaxy Tablet Not Thinner Than iPad 2, But Who Cares - Page 3

No reviewers or consumers desired thinness until Apple swayed their mind with hype. Too funny.

Re: usb it's avail as a accessory. Keeps the weight down, thickness down, parts count down and structurally a minimal design is far better.

Bought a few hundred and none of them will ever need usb. Different strokes for different folks.

Tablets are meant to take on netbooks, no? Until they can do everything a netbook can, they have no real chance of being much more than an over-sized smartphone without the phone...

Yeah, I could just use the devices internal storage but what if I'm on a plane trip and I realize I accidentally forgot to take a document off my exernal hard drive and put it on my tablet? If it was a laptop, no issues, just plug it in and go, I want that with a tablet too.
There's also sometimes a need for a DVD drive for me at least, not enough to warrant more than a USB one, but still, sometimes its nice to kick back and just watch a DVD on the go.

This, as long as it's not massively thick then I honestly couldn't care less, below 1.5cm and its more than enough, even 2cm or 3cm is perfectly fine.

And why should I pay extra for something that should be supported by every tablet? Instead of the annoying Apple Dock connector or the MicroUSB charging connectors, how about just a full size USB port that not only works for charging, but also works for my external hard drive, camera, keyboard, mouse, etc?

Different strokes for different folks, yes, although I think the majority of folks would prefer the simplicity of that...At least make it microUSB and bundle an adapter or something.

Personally I would like a 25mm or so thick tablet. Use the extra space for more batteries and ports, and ofc more powerful hardware.

Been on the market forever, where have you been? Never popular.

So I give you an example where a company buys several hundred, yet you think that you know what the majority wants/needs and it happens to match up with only what you want.

If your commited to the extra size of keyboard, camera, mouse, hdmi tv, Apple thinks you should be committed to an adapter. Don't like it, don't buy it.

Bull, release a tablet with a usb port and then rerelease it without one. Get my point? Managing without a USB port doesn't mean a USB port is useless.
Hell they ought to release a tablet with a dvd drive and card reader, make it something more than a swollen smartphone.

My brother in law bought a galaxy yesterday and after realizing it's pretty useless, he's returning it today. They are just gimmicks, a novelty.

The tablet in inherently cumbersome, hard to type on, slow for surfing the web, poor performance compared to a netbook, expensive, ect, ect. Just basically a useless product that is being hyped to make sales

The adapter adds more bulk and icrap to carry than just adding a friggen USB port in the first place.....oh wait USB ports take away from the" looking sleek and hip" factor.

My Atrix seems to handle it well, dont know why the XOOM wouldnt. But atleast its supported, unlike Apple.
