[BGR] Judge orders Time Warner to out illegal downloaders - Page 18

This sucks. Broadband in America is the worst. I can't believe we say this is a "first world" country without laughing out right. After AT&T announcing broadband caps TimeWarner is my only other "option" in my broadband market. I can't believe they call this a free market.
Why did they pick Time Warner? Big with lots of subscribers? If they think that they succeeded in their mission I think they will move on to other subscribers.

Seriously, did you ever stop and think that even if 90% of people pirated, these companies/actors/people would still make 10x what the average person makes?

I pirate because Charlie Sheen is half a billionaire. 'Nuff said.

I think everyone should be entitled to to pay AFTER they watch/play.

If I liked it, I'll pay, I'll show support, I'll recommend. If I didn't, I'll have legally pirated.
I'm not saying what actors get paid is normal, it's disgusting even, doesn't mean you can justify theft as normal or moral. And we're only talking about movies here, developers don't get paid millions of dollars and that doesn't stop people from stealing their work and calling them "greedy".

And the "pay if you liked it" is BS, do you not pay for your food at a restaurant if the meal wasn't as good as you would have liked, and people will just say they didn't like the movie/game/song even if it was the best thing ever just to have an excuse not to pay.

So, in your mind stealing from the rich to give the poor is immoral?
Maybe you should reconsider your value system, my friend.
And besides, you're not stealing.. you're taking away Potential revenue.
It would be the same if your friend asked you if Crysis 2 was worth buying and you said no.
Crytek wouldn't get money from that. But they wouldn't LOSE money.. only potential money.
They also won't get money from me for the abomination that is Crysis 2.
So, does that mean I shouldn't still play the game just because they're not worthy of my money?
I say heck no!

I never said it would work. Society is built on the premise of a lower-class of subject-able sheep, and they don't have integrity, nor can they truly appreciate anything.
It's just my personal musing. But yes, I wouldn't pay for food that I thought was awful. I'll compensate the restaurant from the ingredients and the chef's time, but I will not pay full price. In fact, the restaurant should get nothing from me if they make bad food.. unless it was personal preference.

I don't see how their prices could get any higher and still keep customers. It is already a bad financial choice to go time warner over most, and to top it off you share a node. Ex. RR 19.95/mo for 768kbps PROMO price, after that I believe its 24.95. Most dsl is 14.95 Promo and 19.95 regular for 1mbps.

I can't believe people just believe them when they say its faster then DSL and don't look into it. Most people are just sheep following the loudest shepard.

Have you watched their commercials lately.. or ever..?

They're clearly not targeting the educated class. Just the dynamic-imagery, smooth-voiced advertisement-liking market. Or rather, the market that puts it on a pedestal and believes every word the shiny video says because they're programmed that way.

WAT? the only option for me is $65 a month for 1.5mbps roadrunner. Now I am gettingmadd. I want DSL now, but Verizon doesn't offer it where I live. $65 for just internet is crazy when I can get cable+internet for only $50 each or internet/cable/phone for $33 each. they are off their rockers. charging TWICE as MUCH because I only want internet.

You pay 65$ for 1.5Mb download?

3G is faster. And in Buffalo.. man, how can you sign for that?

Because it's the only option until I can figure out why there are 2 phone lines coming into my apartment but DSL is still not available at my address. How can I find out what internet services are available in my area?
