What kind of performance increases are we talking about? Less aggressive OCP or just more consistent frame rates?
Well, since day 1 I said that my belief was that it was the OCP.
I still stand by this.
To me, after editing drivers for the past 7 years, I see some new "things".
Among them, I see links between the driver/bios, I see some limits set and if one were to edit the bios, I do believe whatever those limiting factors are, still exist even though they're now changed.
It's almost like changing your multiplier...Even though you've changed the base, certain limiting factors still exist.
In OUR runs, I saw some issues, some performance decreases, etc etc etc.
That may be a circumstance of our chips/motherboards so, as I said earlier, I'll wait to pass judgement.
I do believe it would benefit the community to make a how-to and provide it on both venues BUT, I have heard from EVGA that they "may//will" be doing something soon to [correct] the issues.
I would say at the end of the day, we will have the ability to overclock without being limited at the low end.
Perhaps they'll allow a max of 1.25v or 1.3v as we all have noticed a +/- 0.2 difference in the cores.
IMO it will happen eventually but, keep in mind this LOCK exists because of people OCing in the first place.Edited by Masked - 5/5/11 at 6:21am
