NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 136

Ok, i tried 772MHz and 4000 on RAM

gtx590_772MHz.jpg

As you can see under the rendered image, it rendered for half an hour and sampled 4677 samples compared to 4411 with previous 723 MHz overclock. 4677/4411 and 772/723 are both 1,06 ratio, so the performance increase is as expected, no throttling or anything... The max temp was 90C, the same as with 723MHz...

I would indeed need to render something for 2-3 hours, to be definitely sure, it is stable, but if yes, i am fairly satisfied as its the 2 x gtx580 performance for 300-400 EUROS less.

Anyway i played SC2 with Multi-GPU off and it crashed...well it kept freezing on 670MHz before as well, but everytime it unfroze after approximately 30secs/ 1 minute.... and it let me to go to Win and shut the game down via Task Manager...this time, i could not do ****, it crashed for good...although as i played with buddy, we were on Skype while playing and Skype continued to work, so obviously it was down to graphics...
Its still weird with SC2, this whole freezing/unfreezing, i googled a bit about it and it seems i am not the only one with this issue... i need to run the game on default GPU clocks (never done so far) to see, if there is any difference... it might ultimately be connected to the overclock.

TLDR: I can run Octane on 772MHz with both cores loaded, but it would crash SC2 on the same freq while playing on one core only.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Dual-GPU cards are much more unstable when they are running only on one GPU.

Did not know that. Any explanation for such behavior?

So have evga managed to solve the voltage problem yet? Shouldn't be far off considering the time frame. They should get your Bios Ragin, and their fan bios, and merge the two. That being said, any updates Ragin? I'm just using the fan unlock BIOS now. Seems to work fine, but I'd like to have some more permanent increases to my speeds. Preferably around 680MHz Core.

Coming from a guy that ran 2x295's I never experience that only running one gpu when sli was off.

No updates, I haven't pushed for one either as its not causing any perceivable problems, I have just been so busy lately. I will have to get BOINC up and running and leave it over night.

Not necessarily, I play WoW with DX11 API in eyefinity windowed full screen (only way to use eyefinity +DX11 with ATI atm, shame on ATI/Blizzard) and my 5970 highly OC'd to 1000 core 1250 men works fine running only one core. It's nice, I use firefox 4 with a plugin that allow me to pin firefox window(s) above all other, and above wow as well, so I use half of my right monitor with Wowhead/facebook/Gmail/Windows Live tabs.

I have 2x590 sli but I get the same 3dmark11 score whether I have one of two cards in the case - as far as I can tell sli is active and 3dmark recognises that there are two cards. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
