You'd have to upgrade your 850W power supply. I say try it out and see if it's even really needed. Enjoy.

Can I do harm to any of my components if I throw in another and there's not enough power?

Won't hurt components but will black screen as soon as games start or possibly not boot up at all. 850 watts on a good qaulity PSU is enough to run two GTX 580's but not three. Essentially with two GTX 590's you'd be running four down clocked GTX 580's.

Especially if your only one monitor, you have way more than enough GPU power. I think you'll find yourself very happily satisfied with the one GTX 590. thumb.gif

So far - yes! It's very good, I wasn't blown away by it but the performance certainly is something!

I'm not really interested in a 3-monitor setup, it's more than I need. I think you're right, maybe one is enough... but then again... is it? biggrin.gif

I have a pair of EVGA Classified 590s on the way. Newegg had them in stock for like 2 hours on Friday so I jumped on it. I am having a lot of issues with my 3 way SLI setup, which the 590s should correct. I'll try to provide "proof" once I have it set up.

How is everyone's experience with the 590s so far? What is the highest clock speed that provides a stable experience on air?

Go back 164 pages and look at the list with stable clocks/proof. ; )
You wont need to worry about OCing the card at all, it runs most games @ stock clocks just fine. These OC's were done with the drivers that still allowed voltage control before they were locked because people were thinking since it had GF110 it would surely OC like a 580...and then the cards went *pop*

The latest drivers are crashing me even in Doom 3...Imagine that...

Rolling forward to the new beta...Let's see if that helps.
