NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 18

I was playing Empire: Total War a moment ago and then... suddenly... BAM! PC shutdown. Reboot: no POST. Turned off power switch behind the PSU and just as I was reaching for it, the mesh behind the PSU burnt my fingers. It was scorching hot and a faint smell of burnt capacitor slowly creeped out of it. Waited for 10 minutes and then I held my breath and turned on power again. Everything is working now but the PSU's fan is at 100% and there's really hot air coming from the back of it. I knew that Tagan's BZ series were subpar quality compared to Corsair and Enermax but I didn't quite expect it to fail after all this time. Now I can see why I'm getting lower than usual performance. 5 years worth of capacitor aging +three GPUs and one W gobbler of an extreme edition CPU has finally worn out my Tagan. Time to get a Corsair AX...

juzam this isn't unusual with the fermi line. if you go on the nvidia forums you will see that 400 and 500 prefer clean volts. the gtx 570 is a major one though.

Your not even worth a real response. Your reps must be from people just like yourself and hold very little value.

a 6870 is a bad card? huh i didnt know that.

oh and, i'm guessing you have a flawless rep record, right?

just another martyr on ocn. what a surprise.

oh and just because you have more money than he does dosent mean you are better than him.

So I'm dying to really push this thing. Do you think a corsair AX850 would be enough to handle any gpu overclocking with my i7 > 4GHz?

I live 10 minutes away from FrozenCPU, so if you need me to swing by and bash some heads, lemme know. ;-)

Anyways,

I'd love to oc this thing, but I don't know how hard I can push it; Never OCd a gpu before so I am a bit hesitant to do it right off the bat on an $800 card. I bought the card with the intent to oc it but haven't yet. I guess now is the best time to learn.

If any one would like to help me out, I'd be more than willing to post some results...

Right off the bat get MSI Afterburner. Make sure its the newest version. Don't touch the voltage just yet. Throw the core at 700mhz and bump the memory 100mhz. Download vantage and do a run stock first then do a run with the settings i just told you. Then report back
