NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 179

Fyi- I'm pretty well done with these cards. Failure of a company to acknowledge its responsibility to its consumers demand is destine for doom.... See my post on Nvidia forum below..
__________________________________________________ ___________________
Dear Nvidia,
I have spent many dollars on your gtx 590's only to feel like the development ball was dropped and I'm the one to pay for it. This is my first ever Nvidia card set-up (previously an ATI guy) and this experience isn't engaging. There's a shroud of secrecy on what the issues are and it's only disadvantaging you in my consumer opinion. Having spent 2K+ on your product I do feel as though thing's need to be made right. Obviously I can't do anything against an 800lb Gorilla company with a market value in the billions. All I can do as a consumer is choose not do business with you and advise my friend's of my experience. In the end I realize you'll choose a path and walk it but failing to address the issues your customers have is likely going to have negative long term effects in my opinion. That is unless this segment of the market isn't where you're going. Your choice, My choice.

Regards,
Vertex

No, it looks like game glitching/drivers. Crysis 1 is the game, but is it modded at all or playing a custom level?

Artifacting is much more specific (dots/speckles) that seem to emulate similar to dead pixels. Wrong pixel color etc.

GPU Memory errors tend to be specific textures (like the floor) going invisible and or models/objects' parts gone missing, or stretched infinitely in a specific direction.

This looks like a driver glitch. To you get the same issue on stock (non-overclocks)? If you do, then try playing in DX9 (see if its API related). After that its worth trying different drivers after you re-install those.

As always I can count on you

It's Crysis yeah - I'm using Silents High Resolution Foliage, Rygels High Resolution Textures, Level 6 CUUDATS autoconfig, Lemars HD Suit and Xigmateks XFX 2.

Interestingly I've seen one of the GPU memory errors you mentioned - when playing BF:BC2 I noticed that in one level, shut the game down immediately and it hasn't occured since.

I've also seen what appear to be dead pixels, they occured when hovering the mouse over the 'X' on the top of a window, but they're not doing it right now.

Could it be unstable drivers? As mentioned previously I've not actually experienced a flawless install - the last couple of times (275.50 and 275.33) I've received an error during install but they completed anyway.

I'm thinking NVIDIA dropped the ball here. The card is an awesome product, but it's creators aren't supporting it the way they should. Almost as if they don't care - but it's the most powerful card they make. How could they not care?

I am not sure why. Looks like greed is winning out perhaps?

Anyways, I have been running 275.50 for the better part of what, two weeks? Moving the story on, I was playing around in the profiles... or needed to more specifically, this is what I came across:

Back to 275.33 for me, maybe even 270.61 if I see the same thing.

Heavily Chinese/Taiwanese titles, and language. Even Bad Company 2, halflife were recognizable .exes, but I can't help but wonder that regional drivers exist for a reason. Could explain a variety of issues we have been having.

What is up with nVidia??? I don't get it. I know the main team is working 28x.xx drivers but still.

I would also anticipate that it maybe a single Mod interfering with Crysis. I don't know enough about Crymodding, just the texture packs and ToD.

Perhaps someone else with more experience will help. But to answer your question, yes these "GPU errors" can definitely be driver related. But because you are also in modded territory that adds a a few more things it can be, botched installed (not necessarily your fault), could be overwritten files that should not be overwritten for example.

Wow...

So, I started playing Witcher 2 tonight with the new patch and that game now max's out all four GPU's in Quad SLI almost constantly. Game runs fantastic with fps often in the triple digits, but with my GPU's going %90+ non stop, it wasn't long before GPU 2 was hitting 90c..

So far this is the only game that does this.

It looks like I'm gonna have to drop $320 on an EVGA X58 Classified FTW since it seems to be the best one for spacing the cards and keeping them both a full 16x.

I want to stick with EVGA because they hooked me up pretty well RMA wise before, I like the step-up program and 24/7 tech support and warranty (especially considering I have a dead dimm slot on my current 2yr old X58) - and because their corporate office and warehouse is in my area, I pretty much get one day shipping no matter what, whether it's a purchase or RMA so I'm not stuck with long down times.

So that being the case, I figure X58 Classified FTW, right?

Or should I just wait for Socket 2011 at the end of the year and not play Witcher 2?

I'm thinking I may do both. Get the Classified X58 now while it's on sale and give my new 590's some much needed space asap, and then go for the socket 2011 when it's out and proven.

But if anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Oh, and for those Quad SLI users who want to give all four of their GPU's a workout constantly in a game? Witcher 2 with the new 1.3 patch...

Impressive. Most impressive.

~40c . 20 above ambient. CPU MB and RAMS idle around 30c

But if you almost hit 40 on water.. Then I'm not going to worry about it.
