Ohai, figured I should join. Currently stock, running 280.19 drivers, will OC when water cooling fittings arrive/when I get a game that can challenge this card.

I have a Koolance block I'll install when the fittings arrive. It's ballin.

ETA:
I would have included a 3dMark11 bench but it dislikes the beta drivers, and I can't be arsed to do 280.26 because my internet BLOWS.
3DMark Stock @ 4ghz: Here.
3DMark Overclocked @ 4Ghz: Here.
3DMark Stock @ 3.4Ghz: Here.

I got my full tower case in. Lian-Li A77F. I am no longer ashamed lol.

This is the rig after several hours of cable management:

And here's my desk setup:

You should definitely jump in my 590 vs 6990 thread, I don't have another soul benchmarking.

Just read the main post (link is in my sig), and you will be in your own winner's circle of single 590s
I've wanted to get involved in that thread for a while, but I thought something to do with my rig was faulty because of the erratic GPU usage - I haven't really seen anybody else complaining about it. It's very obvious that the GTX 590 is performing way below its capabilities.

Edit: I couldn't see your DiRT 3 screens earlier as I was on Android Tapatalk (which blows). I'm amazed at how your overclock on the 590s has affected the GPU usage - the difference is tremendous (even if FPS didn't change much).

Thanks, believe it or not, everytime the average fps goes up by about 5, its considerably smoother faster overall. I have some amazing results for today. Of course I have no idea how amazing they are compared to other 590s or 6990s SINCE NO ONE IS BENCHING

I just wanted to make an announcement to overclockers: do not go up to 1.05v. It must have some trigger in drivers to just crash your cards. Instead try doing everything you can from 1.038v. Just saved myself future countless hours of tweaking my OC's.

825 @ 1.05v - Completely unstable, tested 5 times (involving a reboot each time.)
830 @ 1.038v - Completely stable, tested 6 times (crashed at 55c+).

Also, the cards about seem much more stable below 55c. I watched my temps hit 57c today, after about 3 hours of benchmarking (DiRT 3) most if it actually in benchmark, and I went from stable to crash on 3 separate occasions. I let the cards cool down to idle 29/30c and the same overclock/overvoltage was stable for 7 runs x 3 minutes each. The max temperature was 47. After 5 more runs, I hit 55c on 3 of the GPUs, and then it just crashed halfway through the next run (I couldn't see temps before crash.) Again same overclock/voltage.

The voltage on these cards is a mystery!

I think I made a breakthrough with my GPU usage just now though - I sat and thought about exactly what's been changing with my PC recently when it hit me - my monitors. I'm now on BenQ XL2410Ts rather than the Dell 2407WFP, so the issue must be something to do with VSync and refresh rates.

I disabled VSync in game and my GPU usage shot up to 98% and hovered about there with the occassional dip (as is expected). However I get awful tearing still as Crysis runs in DX10, which for some reason appears to be locked at 60Hz. So it's a bit of a double-edged sword in that respect - I can either have erratic GPU usage and poor FPS, or an average of 70+ FPS, and horrible screen tearing. Awesome!

In other news it also appears that the 590 sits at the maximum allowed voltage if you're running two or more monitors from one card due to the power state. It also stops the core clocks from idling. I'm currently at 690MHz Core and 1380MHz shader @ 0.963v, but due to the power state, my card is constantly at 0.963v rather than dropping to the standard voltage of 0.913v.

I hate this personally, as I like to think that my components can 'rest' when I'm not using them and therefore live longer. This may not be factually correct, but it makes me feel better

Suggest getting a 3rd monitor (and another 590), that crap is ridiculous, I have 3 monitors and all 4 GPUs are allowed to idle.

Vsync almost always lowers GPU usage, but I noticed that Vsync lowers GPU usage even if its not hitting your refresh rate (120 Hz). So, I agree Vsync definitely could use some work.

Considering how far multi-monitor support has come since launch with these cards, I can't really complain. Day one for me was excruciating. I didn't have 4 usable GPUs till the second week, it was stuck in 3 GPUs haha.

P.S. Benchmark!

I wish - I don't have the money for another 590 just now, and nor will I for some time after that (plus I don't think I actually want one, considering scaling, VRAM etc). It's my Mum's birthday this week, my Dad two weeks after that then my Mrs a month after that! No money for me

I'll pop over to the benchmark thread and take a quick look at what's going on.

I also reinstalled the Witcher II and patch 1.3 - with everything fully maxed minus uber sampling. It was pushing the card extremely hard, but was still delivering over 60fps in fight scenes, 120+ indoors and 70-100 roaming. With the fan set at 95% the GPUs still hit 83c, talk about stress!

For me, at stock speeds, Crysis 1 is completely playable with high settings at 2560x1600, without AA, but not on enthusiast settings. With high settings and no AA it gets between 40-80 fps--Mostly averaging around 60ish, and with 95% gpu utilization.

Been awhile, I was away and came back to the 280.26 WHQL. I installed them, and low and behold I could raise my voltage to 0.975v. I could lower it too, but before I was stuck at 0.963v.

Well with this increase in voltage I dedcided to see how it would affect my Overclock.

Before I was completely stable at 0.963v 700Mhz and 1800Mhz Mem. Temps never passed high 60's.

With tweak in voltage I got a stable OC at 0.975v 720Mhz 1850Mhz Mem. However under heavy loads temps creeped up to 83 DEGREES These are water cooled as well.

Am I best off sticking to the original overclock? I m not too happy with the temps on my second OC. I do notice a great performance increase in Crysis 2, Witcher 2, but not sure the temp payoff is worth it.

Not sure if this counts as proof, but here are my 3dMark11 from my first OC, I will upload the results from second aftrer a wee bit of tweaking.

I uploaded my second results as a PDF, increase of about 190

I uploaded my second results as a PDF, increase of about 190
How many radiators do you have, and what is your water cooling setup? That temperature is completely unacceptable.

And what is ambient (room) temperature... this isn't a desert is it?
