NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 222

@RagingCain- Mate you have educated me, I was in the mind set thinking that a stock 590 had a chance of blowing up after reading all the news and other OCN member posts.

As im sure many people here still are...

Your post should be stickied somewhere so we can refer people to it.

Well considering almost all, if not all, of the manufactured stock has sold out - I'm assuming Nvidia and Vendors don't really care.

And us owners knowing what kind of a gem it is, shouldn't care either. Because the haters are never going to admit the truth and they had it wrong, because now that it's Ghandi, there's no way for them to upgrade to one. So instead they'll perpetuate this continued falsehood to justify their purchases and ignore that they blew a great opportunity on one of the most Pimpin' cards to come out in a while.

That's cool. I'll just be over here playing my games, full blast, worry free.
I must have implied that, what I meant to say, he took a 590 to a very high voltage range. Higher than a stock 580 BIOS would allow, which we know that the 580 has a more robust power delivery system. The max voltage for a regular 580 is 1.151~153v, unless you edit the BIOS so it was 1.213v. ASUS made the mistake in their infinite wisdom to let people go that high in the first place (all dead 590s I have seen are non-EVGA too ^.^) but W1zzard was not even slightly cautious about the whole deal. Jumping from 1.100v to 1.213v (max voltage) just to see what would happen.

One of the con's is its slower than the 6990?

The point is, EVERY card has a possibility to die at stock and overclocks. Its just a really low possibility and usually RMA-able. The 590 is no more susceptible than any other video card... but it can be susceptible to user fault, just like another other card as well.

Amen. At first I was worried I wouldn't be able to secure a 2nd 590 in case one wasn't enough. Then I realized I was coming from an FX770m and the day that my single 590 runs games like my 770m was running a month and a half ago my motherboard and CPU will need to be replaced as well.

Not saying it's a perfect card and that it doesn't have faults. My card squeals a tad when folding, and I wouldn't complain if it had the voltage regulation of the 580s; but for $710 (price when I got in) it's an extremely nice compliment to any system.

When people see my system and start asking questions the 590 is the first thing I talk about. Most people immediately latch onto the fans and water cooling but I'm saying, "Yeah yeah yeah it's some tubes and fancy spinners. Look at this graphics card. Do you see it? Look how it sits silently, unmoved by anything that challenges it."

Most people try to correct me and say "you mean 580, there is no 590", then they go oh, it must be new. My other favorite one is telling people I have a Pscore of 17,000 in 3DMark11, and then they keep telling me I mean Vantage. I always have to link the score...

:/ Le sigh

I had a 6990 for about 2 weeks. Actually RMA'd and got another because I wasn't happy with performance. I scored a 33k on vantage with the 6990 with the BIOS unlocked to 880mhz setting. RMA'd into a ASUS 590 instead and scored a 36.3k @ 612mhz core without touching a single thing. It scored almost 800 points higher in 3Dmark11 and I noticed 7-12 higher fps in sc2. Imo the 590 destroys the 6990, the 6990 is huge, its loud as hell, and it has higher mhz right out of the box yet doesnt perform to spec. If we could put a 590 to 880mhz out of the box, what do you thinks gunna happen to the 6990's credibility then?

Its gunna look like a chump.

Anyone try the Blackfire Mod for Crysis 2? What do you think, if so?

Personally, I'm pretty impressed.

Besides the obvious changes (color suit modes, different textures, better textures?)....

i think they just upped the saturation and contrast on all the lighting.... at least that is what it looks like to me. It now looks less like a gritty realistic environment and more like a flashy movie experience....

Long time Raging ang co. Been living the dream of a stable OC and some high quality gaming. But decide to quiz the oracle. Currently with MSI beta 6 and 280.26 I can change voltage up to a maximum of 0.975v is the highest I can go? would it be unwise to take them any higher.

Running stable on 725Mhz 1850Mhz 0.975v or so it says in MSI
