Moderately off-topic...

I've put some serious thought into this 580//590 setup and I think I'm going for it.

My reasoning is, with the 590 dedicated to 1 monitor, you lose half the driver issues...I.E. SLI with Multi, VRM...Etc...

Plus, it's actually been proven that in SLI, the cores actually sync (something I don't currently see) so, I'm really putting some thought into this.

Definitely having a hard time talking myself out of it...

Now, to find an EVGA GTX 580 HC for sale...
So, would this setup help with actual surround gaming? Or is it more for so you can run 3 monitors at once without issues?

You can't really surround successfully with a 590.

At some resolutions, absolutely...It works great but, at higher resolutions, no.

My idea would be to buy 1 really upscale, high end monitor...While have the other 2 "slave".

So you'd still be in surround...But all gaming would go to the central monitor.

This allows you to still surround which, unless you work from home, you really don't NEED this but, it allows a work-around for about 10-12 driver issues that I can name off of the top of my head.

So essentially, you can keep your surround setup, the only difference is when gaming, you'd be actually using the 590 to it's fullest VIA the 1 monitor.

Got you.

How well does a Quad SLI setup do surround gaming with three 1080p 3D/120hz monitors for 120fps gameplay? Have you guys had a chance to test that kind of setup with the latest drivers?

I'm looking hard at that new Asus 27" 1080 120hz/3D monitor coming out in Oct. to replace my BenQ if the picture quality is good enough. If 2 590's in Quad can push three of those, I'd be really psyched.

My panel now is stellar for normal 2D gaming, but I'm not sure if its big enough for 3D gaming and movies. So I may upgrade and keep this panel for a secondary rig. Or I may get an 2560x1600 IPS panel. Still not sure...

The new beta drivers have rocked the hell out of my 3DMark11 score.

My last score at stock clocks on the 280.19 drivers: X5825

My last score at 1340/1728 on the 280.19 drivers: X6060

Latest score at stock clocks on the new latest beta drivers? X6230

Impressive. Most impressive.

However, I did not pick up any noticeable gains on the Metro 2033 Bench on Very High with DOF turned OFF. I haven't run the bench with DOF on.

I'm bummed I can't get Crytek's Crysis 2 bench to work..

Crysis 2 does seem to average closer to 90fps now instead of 60fps.

I haven't really noticed any other significant gains in games, but I also really haven't been gaming much ever since I finished Deus Ex. I still liked Mass Effect 2 better (I'm a sucker for Space Opera) but among the current crop of games, everything else just feels "meh" after finishing Deus Ex... Even WarHammer:Space Marine..

I hadn't played BFBC2 in a while because I was playing it so much when I first got my cards that my hands started to cramp up carpel tunnel (sp?) style and it kind of freaked me out. So I started playing with my wireless 360 controller as much as I can.

But I played this morning and dayum, if it didn't cure that post Deus Ex blues.

Good ol' Battlefield....

Clearly the only solution is moar ME2. Shadow Broker DLC is pretty sweet, but I might be a sucker for Liara. I miss 790MHz core...

Is Deus Ex 360 pad compatible? Might have to try that. Also, if you liked ME2 you should look into Bastion. Just a shot in the dark.

Space Marine isn't bad so far IMO. I am truly sick of the orcs shouting "space marines!" though. That got stale after the 6th time they shouted it.

Yes! The 360 Pad does work great on Deus EX! No conflict with the Logitech G13 either like on some games, if you have one of those.

Space Marine plays with the 360 pad as well. It's not a bad game, at all. It's just that Deus Ex among the current crop of games is arguably the toughest act to follow.

Unfortunately, I've already torn through all the ME2 downloadable content. I loved most of them, especially the Shadow Broker one.

Fortunately, Deus Ex is supposed to be releasing similar style downloadable content.

I'm actually a big fan of downloadable content of this nature. Much more than map packs for the FPS games I play.

Little episodes that have good to great gameplay, but also story wise either add to the main overall plot, or reveal more about the characters in the story and how those revelations flesh out the overall story.

Some people complain, such as in Deus Ex, assuming it's cut content from the primary game to be sold as DLC later. But for me, if the content is improved in some pertinent fashion, then I have no problem paying extra for it.

If I was a Game Producer of such a series, and it was my call, I'd try and have DLC episodes be made and set to release on a monthly or bi-monthly basis that bridged between two games, such as Mass Effect 2 and 3. And by doing so, ideally keep the player hooked and invested in the game/story/characters so that they're lead right into the next game emotionally invested and hyped for the next big "chapter"

Definitely looking forward to the DLC of Deus Ex if it's of the same quality as the ME2 ones.

I picked up Bastion, I'm gonna have to check that out later tonight when I finish with my work.

I impulse bought Call of Juarez: The Cartel, liking previous entries in the series and intrigued by the idea of the new one. I had no idea it was as horrible as they say it is. I haven't even tried it. But that's what I get for not reading the console version review of a game that comes out on that platform first and then PC later.

Lesson Learned.

I use the default windows 7 driver that installs when you plug it in. Most games support it, even annoyingly so when I leave it plugged in and want to use keyboard and mouse. Especially when one of the sticks is slightly offf center and I can't figure out why I am turning left automatically.......

Yeah, same here. Windows 7 driver. The main thing you need is the wireless adapter unless you use a wired controller.

The pad works great. I actually use it as often as I can. The only time I don't is with online FPS multiplayer. Then I use a Logitech G13 gameboard, with it's little joystick which I use as a substitute for the W,A,S,D keys and it's a Godsend. And a Razer Naga Epic. Which actually works way better for me for FPS than the Razer Mamba which was designed more for FPS vs. the Naga Epic's MMO focus. But for some reason, the feel and performance of the Naga Epic works much better for me for Online FPS.

It cracks me up when console gamers try to say that you can't PC game from a couch. Um, I can game from the couch just fine when I hook my rig up to my 60" Plasma. And with exponentially better graphics and Frame rates too

I actually just spent the last few hours sucked into The Witcher 2. I forgot about that one when I was complaining about nothing to play after Deus Ex.

With everything turned up except Ubersampling as well as Vsync set to "On", I got a solid 97fps pretty much no matter what I did. I'm enjoying the game. Looking forward to another round later...
