though on the other hand, the power management that does lower clock speed is rather aggressive as well (I really want nvidia to give me a way to turn that off)

What is it throttling, if not clock speeds?

SLI GPU Usage?

for the watercooling group I just got an email from koolance on any difference between their 6990 block and GTX 590 block....
Quote:
Our GTX 590 block is due on Monday. Unlike on the AMD 6990 koolance block we will have water pass over the VRM, but the internal structure is not yet known. Thanks for your inquiry.

interesting. I wonder which block cools the VRMs better, ek or koolance?

if he worded that correctly then it must be clocking volts back to stock. if he worded it incorrectly then he must mean that it's not going lower than stock clock speeds.

Folks!

Interesting article from the TEchreport...really worth reading...
http://techreport.com/discussions.x/20677

Debunks a few rumors about the beast!

All of which leads us back to exactly where we started, with no evidence of basic problems in the GTX 590's operation beyond, you know, the initial exploding drivers. Heh. We do have some evidence of additional, sloppily made insinuations of problems, which I suppose shouldn't be too surprising.

Sorry but ... i mean ... this is hilarious ... i'm sorry but i just CAN'T understand how you people get so ... i don't know ... maybe comprehensive ... when we are talking about a 700 bucks card...

From the TechReport we, 590 users, are basically dependent of a driver ...
No one just stops for a second and analyse this situation in a perspective that ... the freaking card is not build as it should... it can't handle the power ... so we use a driver that will limit that power to hide the faulty design ...

We are not talking about a 570, middle market card...
We are talking about a card that was to be sold way more expensive, but due to competition a last minute price change made it cheaper ... but still expensive smile.gif

Seriously ... this is something that i can't understand how people get so " i'm ok with that " ...

I know what you mean..are you planning to send it back? I don't thing a newer driver will solve everything, to be honest...I don't thing the card will really get better than it is...I'm giving it a few more days...

I was testing in-game with EVGA Precision overlay, to monitor temps, GPU utilization and GPU clocks...

Interesting...I used maxfps_200 in COD Blackops...

With Vsync OFF, I'm getting clock speeds of 630 mhz, sometimes one core throttles to 554mhz (at around 74 celsius)...

With Vsync ON, at 60 FPS, I get lower temps (around 60 degrees) and I see GPU core clocks at 405mhz and 554mhz...sometimes max clock 630mhz...

Strange...why is it clocking down, when temps (and demand) are lower...to get lower temps?
