No, because Maxwell won't be released until at least 2013.

*Ivy bridge is quite literally a smaller sandy bridge. Later on when 2012 socket is released, the processor will be utilized more efficiently however.. but then we're getting into another socket, another chipset, etc etc.

do you work for NV?

Are you a time traveler?

Some sort of Oracle?

Maybe a Wizard?

How do you know all of this for certain?

lol he doesn't. he's guessing like everyone else. even if nvidia said it would be 50% faster, you have to take that with a grain of salt. they always over reach on their projections for both camps.

It's a little something called going to Nvidia, AMD, and intel confrences, as well as doing your damn research.

ITS NOT HARD GUYS. C'MON. Use your heads. This is even info from last year that explains it.

It's a waste of money buying the 590, or the 6990, when keplar will have 2 years until maxwell.

so it will release 100% on time, giving exactly the performance they say it will, just like Fermi did rolleyes.gif

Also:
Quote:
While Nvidia showed a new openness by revealing the road map, some critics are dubious about the performance estimates, especially given many of the problems that Fermi faced as it was readied for launch. In particular, noted Nvidia skeptic Charlie Demerjian isn’t as hopeful about the numbers, believing that most of the promised gains are the result of Moore’s law (the amount of transistors that can fit on a integrated circuit doubles every two years — or 18 months, depending on whom you ask), rather than radical new technology.

o_O

If we go purely on roadmaps, HD6XXX series is based on a 28nm process, and Fermi released in November of 2009 tongue.gif

This can't be promised, but Nvidia has received the worst wrap in a long time with Fermi. They know that if they make the same mistake, it's downhill from here. Rest assure they'll be doing more testing on Keplar, than the "testing" with Fermi.

AMD's HD 7000 series (southern islands) will also be using a 28nm gpu. They never say much about details though. Once again, they talk very little about southern islands, but then quickly lead in to talk about bulldozer rolleyes.gif

I'm curious to see how it will all unfold.. but until then, I'm not dropping $700+ on either nvidia or amd's new card.

I am even making sure i am staying home to be there (with my dog, lol) to sign for this, but now i am extremely nervous and may even think about returning this.

I sold both my 480s here and shelled out a *decent* amount to get a 590, with the aim of having a little less power consumption, a little less heat in my case and a LOT less noise (I ran my 480 fans pretty high frequently as I did not really want to let them go past 80 celsius when gaming).

I am not really planning on overclocking as I have no real need for it right now while i am only running a single 1920x1200 monitor, so running it stock doesn't bother me.

But if these cards are running into issues when run at STOCK, then there is a serious, serious problem here.

I might leave my 590 unopened through the weekend just to see if there are anymore developments on this - i am assuming running stock is perfectly fine and shouldn't cause problems, but if there are underlying issues I may return and wait for a revision or something of the sort.

DAMMIT NVIDIA GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER PLEASE.

A friend of mine also did the same thing you're doing (selling his 480s and getting a 590). Well, he gets 1800 points less than he got with 480s (which were factory overclocked by the way) on 3dmark11 but he said he didn't notice any framerate drop in games. Overall he's satifsied and 100% sure he made a good investment. He does not overclock his card so it's running perfectly fine like mine. So like I said before, nothing will happen to your card if you run it at stock clocks and voltages, use latest drivers, have a decent PSU and your overall system stability is good.

Yes. Like the GTX295 before it, I will never overclock my "overpriced junk" and continue to enjoy it for another 2 years while you stick your head underground.

Keplar runs 3-4 times faster than Fermi, and is much much MUCH more cooler, and power efficient, while maintaining a high transistor count.

Have fun with your overpriced card that doesn't work properly.

Heed this advice. Return your cards if still possible, stick with what you have/buy another of the same for a cheaper price, and sli.. make it last another 4 months.

It won't be long until it's Keplar time.

So what exactly are you doing here? I am sure the lower ended 560Ti has a fan club around here somewhere you can go to.

Life-time warranty from EVGA? Whats to fear? RMAs? EVGA is very good about keeping their high-end customers happy, even if it means replacing the model of the card to something equitable in the even there is a hardware design SNAFU/catastrophe.

I am in a very similar boat, selling my GTX 580s, and I am not very worried, but at the same time, on one GTX 590, I knew not to assume GTX 580 SLi performance, so one card would technically be a downgrade, but two cards would be quite the boost in performance.
