Also, I was talking about blocking a small strip of the fan under the card not the card vent itself, sorry if I didn't make that clear. The intent was to keep the 181 from blowing the 590's exhaust right back into it, not block the exhaust entirely.
3-4% in reality is not a difference worth having a discussion over...Genuinely.
Yes, an infinitely small percentile of a difference exists, again, to the community, and in real world apps, it's negligible.
He can put that card wherever in god's name he wants, it is a 4% real world difference which is not going to make a lick of difference in BF3 due to the fact he doesn't have AA maxed.
So, again, in real world usage, no, there is no difference in slot choice...In benching, there is only because 3dMark and other benches test their tessellation engines which, 3-4% again, is not a real world usage difference.
If he games, nothing will change...No performance difference.
My agreeing with you is that his case is not properly vented and that, it's honestly a bad case for this hardware.
I personally believe there are some better options out there, to the extent I'd almost reccomend he games with the side of the case off.
That doesn't change the fact that he can literally drop the card in any slot and get absolutely the same gaming performance that he had in the X16.
