In relation to what?

As a single slot solution, even driver locked...It beats a stock 6990 in MOST real world situations, including gaming...Once the 6990 is OC'd, well, that's a different story.

Voltage regulations are in place because "we" as a community, decided to turn the voltage up PAST what Nvidia recommended and in a style of bad parenting, smacked us with a voltage lock + Driver controlled stability etc.

You can go beyond the voltage lock and OC the card which at about 600-800mhz and a voltage of 0.99v is actually a VERY good performer...But, it takes some serious effort to do this.

If you have the cash and don't need a single slot solution then, I'd go with 2x580 3gb's as they're the "ultimate" performance solution right now.

It depends on your needs, honestly.

Hello.. I have a pair of EVGA 590 Classifieds.. I dont want to overvolt.. I dont even really want to overclock.. Ive followed RCains topics at the evga forums and here and Ive read through much of this thread and all of 590 flashing overclocking thread and still have yet to find the answer.

I have 1 of 4 gpus with a max voltage of .913 the other 3 are .925. Why? I have no problem flashing the cards if it will fix it.. Ive edited my bios and set the min voltage to .925 but Im wary to flash it because I dnt know enough about it and I dont know that its even going to change what I want.. the max voltage for gpu 1 to be .925

I really only wanted 1 card but will work with 2 if i have 2, all i do is game/fold and its on a 1920x1080 monitor 23" i just want 80-100fps in anything i play with max graphics/aa/sampling ect. Will the 590 accomplish that?
Oh and GREEN forever amd is not a option at all!!!!

I think the 590 meets all those criteria, but you might need to drop AA down one notch from max. It has the power, just limitedish vram, though at 1080 it's very workable with the programs out at the moment.. I was getting ~15-15.5k ppd per core with core at 680 and memory at 884 IIRC.

The 590 is a great card and fills a spot in the market. I payed $800aud for mine, the 580 msi lightening is $700aud. So its a bargin when you look at it like that.
Also never had any issues with the card, had it 4 months.

Because thats what it takes for that core to run at that speed. Why worry about it? Forcing it to run a different voltage will at best run it hotter, at worst destabilize it unless you bump up the clock speed to match.

Voltage isn't going to be unlocked for a while, I'm afraid.

Unless EVGA decides to unlock the BIOS...It's just not happening.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to re-write the drivers myself to allow for more juice...

That's going to take some serious time though, especially considering the code catastrophe the last set was.

Sorry I meant with the bios mod, I was able to hit a max of 975 for a while with previous drivers but it seems nvidia have knocked it back down to 963.

Modded drivers sounds promising though smile.gif

I bought mine so I didn't have to go through the hassle of running two GTX580's in sli. I'm through with anything other than a single slot solution.
When I 1st bought this card I had the ability to control the voltage in MSI's Afterburner. I don't know what I did but it no longer works. My max voltage is now 0.9380V and the idle is 0.8750V.
This is the second coolest card I've ever owned. The MSI GTX580 Lightning Xtreme 3GB is the coolest running card I've ever owned. That card takes some hard work to get it to top 70C., which is very good since it can't be watercooled. It has one monster of an oversized non-reference pcb. 12"x5"x1.77". It wouldn't fit in my CoolerMaster HAF-X until I removed the side fan and shroud. The mid-case vga cooling fan won't fit, either.

Just came in:

600x338px-LL-dae56c8c_2011-11-29_15-43-11_938.jpeg

Won't be installed until the remainder of my X79 gear arrives...may take some time as I'm waiting on EVGA to release the Classified.

Hey fellow GTX590 owners.

I was wondering what GPU usage % are you guys getting at 1080p on Ultra on BF3. My 590 is hovering around 50-70% always with some 98% spikes. Framerate not too good. =(
