GPU death doesn't happen too much on the 590, but it's possible just like any other GPU. If unlocked for high overclocks or even worse Overvolting then your risks are much higher.

Yeah but the thing is I have been using the 590 for the last 5 months with my current 700W PSU fine before it died with these black screen crashes.

I also forgot to mention that I also tested my ram with memtest for a few hours with no errors.

I've been using a corsair hx650watt with my 590. Your 700watt should be enough, granted that you are using a reputable PSU.

MK,

I'm using the latest beta at 630 stock Mhz, even with just .925v. But the objective is follow the GPU behaviour, trying to see if it will be 100% stable when using new beta.

Another point Guys: How much can I overclock my 590 for 24/7 using the stock air cooler at .938v (with 285.62 driver) and at .925v (with new beta driver)? And this overclock will be 100% secure to keep the GPU working fine?

Thanks!

i believe voltage on 285.62 is 0.938v only because of a bug in monitoring software. a few number of drivers between 270.xx and 290.xx series showed voltage rised by 1 step but real voltage was 1 step lower. so basically 285.62 or latest drivers - real voltage will be the same (0.925v)

ya sure? because at 285.62 i can run 745/1758 but on anything newer I can only go 730/1728

GPU-Z and afterburner both show .938V. Haven't tried precision.

Mk,

I'm feel sure you are correct: the voltage are different between 285.62 and new beta drivers. I will try to keep the new beta (290 series) just to follow the GPU behaviour.

Talking about overclock: Your 590 are air cooled? If yes, is it 100% safe to keep the 590 overclocked at 730Mz? How long time are you using this frequencies?

thanks MKHunt.

my 590 is under water with an EK EN+Acetal block. I use 730mhz to fold and I game at stock since I have a 60Hz monitor.

Did any of you happen to write down the number on the top of your cards when you stripped them down for a waterblock?

I need to be absolutely certain if the pair of EVGA's I'm running are actually reference cards, before I waste a lot of money on a pair of blocks I can't use.

I've said several times that the original Nvidia pcb's that were shipped to the end-producers came in 2 revisions. http://vr-zone.com/articles/revised-geforce-gtx-590-cards-in-june/12222.html

The 2nd revision came out in June, 2011. Right around the time I bought my 1st GTX590.

I read somewhere, maybe this Forum, maybe another, that somebody had a pair of XSPC waterblocks foe their GTX590's that weren't exactly the same and one came within about 1/8th inch of fitting properly? I imagine he had both revisions of these cards. I can't find any waterblock manufacturer that will answer an e-mail asking which revision of GTX590's their blocks are for.

I'm not really concerned by the brand of blocks, as long as they have no exposed copper. I used a non-plated Danger Den block on an XFX 5850 and couldn't keep it from tarnishing. I should've known better.

Thanks,

k1

Koolance and EK I can confirm without any doubt that they will fit ANY 590.

I actually have a Koolance for sale but not posted yet; BNIB since I RMAed my other one and couldn't wait. It does get better temps than my EK block but the difference is like 3-4C so I have a hard time caring lol.
