Hmm further testing has shown that the EK block runs about 5C hotter than the Koolance, which used to get to the exact same temp as the CPU when both were fully loaded.

(Just make sure your case supplies cool air and vacates both ends of the card quickly)

What BIOS are you running? What clocks and voltages?

If so, what temps are you getting and most importantly how did the OC affect your temps in comparison to running it at stock?
After a year of running the card stock I pretty much decided to give the OC a shot aswell.
I'm aiming for a ~20% overclock so around -/+ 730 MHz, will check the 590 flashing thread later and try some BIOSes out.
Im on stock air cooler, but I reckon the cooling will be enough seeing how my GPUs only run between 72°C and 80°C at around 70% fan speed while gaming.
On another note @Masked:
How can I check what Revision my card is? I realize that you said the vast majority is on Rev2 cards but I got mine pretty much at launch so would be cool if there'd be a way to check.

It's watercooled now. Didn't overclock while on air due to the summer ambient temps here of between 35-40c. The card was hitting +90c at stock.

I decided to give the ForceWare 295.51 Beta drivers a shot today and found that GPU-Z 0.5.8 now reports my max voltage as 0.9250V. instead of the 0.9380V it reported earlier.

This is now the correct voltage isn't it?

Is there a simple set of instructions, somehere at all, that explains how to mod the vBIOS so I can achieve a maximum 1.000V for my cards? That's an OV of 0.0750V. I've read through the thread about doing this but I still am not the least bit comfortable with the instructions I've pieced together.

This comes close, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E33VThHYl8, but I'd still prefer a written copy I can print out and follow, step by step.

It's still hard to believe such a miniscule voltage increase could have such a profound effect on gpu performance, even though it's been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Is anyone else playing SWTOR and getting constant crashes to desktop or system lockups needing a hard reset?

It doesn't matter what driver I use between the WHQL and the beta's, whether I disable SLI and run it through one GPU - this game is constantly crashing to the desktop or worse.

And it's the only game I'm having issues with, every other game runs full blast flawlessly.

It happens on my two notebooks too, which is why I think its the coding, but the haters on the SWTOR forums are trying to say it's all me and my system.

So, being one who tries to keep an open mind, I'd thought I'd ask here if anyone else is having stability issues with SWTOR and their 590?

It almost doesn't matter anyways; as that I never play MMO's, my lvl. 41 Jedi Consular can't pass the lvl. 37 Class Quest/Mission. So, I guess I suck at them.

Good Times...

checked both cards: 500, so both are "vanilla" =D
considering short period of full load under 1.05v, torned off capacitor and good condition in terms of perfomance, i think the card itself wasnt too damaged by high voltage

Shinobi Jedi, i'm playing too and having some troubles. same crushing, but it happens only when changing instances, when loading screen is just one big ugly random skill icon. hitting "win" key quickly help to avoid driver crushing.
also after aprox. 2 hours i have some kind of texture glitch. alt+tabing helps (video memory leaks i think).

Good Times...

Well, in terms of the system -- It is you.

The game, itself, cannot logically cause the above.

What SWTOR DOES do, is it finds errors where even memtest, fails...Now, I'm not saying you have an error that would cause detriment to anything else, I'm saying that it's highly likely you have a real error, it's just at an extreme you don't use your system at.

The above is actually pretty normal...Examples of this would be Photoshop (anyone remember those errors?), Doom 3 (I remember those crashes...Wonderful HD corruption tool, still to this day)...

Again, I'm not saying the above is your issue but, it's funny how some programs, root out errors better than our stress tests.

What I can see also causing this issue is drivers -- Certain drivers just don't like the game...I have no idea what drivers I'm on at home, actually...But, I have a HUGE memory leak on my ship the moment I touch the space terminal...Causes a double instance.

Personally, I'd write them an email with your DXdiags and explain the issue in depth...

As I said yesterday in the SWTOR forum, the diligent more are we, a better game, expect can we.

It doesn't matter how short of a load it is...1.05v on 1 core, pushes the over above 1.05 -- by at least +0.03v ~ I'm honestly not kidding.

Past 1.05v is actually the stress point of the vast majority of those pathways...I wouldn't be surprised if there was damage and you just won't see it until down the line.

This is why earlier in the thread it was expressed that one should NEVER go beyond 1.02v ~ It's just bad for the card, itself.

Masked I am getting a "battlefield has stopped working error" when I turn the grfx up to ultra etc..
Could this be a similar cause? I ran memtest and there are no errors. What do you suggest I do?
I will be testing a friends 590 in my pc on the weekend, but what else can you suggest?
Funny thing is when bf3 was released I had no issues for a couple months which makes my think it's just a coding error.

That's more/less a driver issue unless your card is damaged.

When a pathway on your card is blocked...or a solder "goes bad", the relay doesn't actually work and it just stops the card.

Ironically, the same thing happens if your driver is corrupted or, just won't play nice with the game.

I'd remove and re-download your drivers -- Go from there.
Ok, I'll give that ago. I normally just install the drivers over the top of each other.
I have only really over clocked a couple times when I ran the palit custom bios, max overclock I did was 700mhz. So I think the card is fine but like I said will tese this with my mates card..
Should I use a driver sweep program to remove the drivers? Or is custom instal all that you'd recommend?
