NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 390

Hey guys, I've just recently built the rig in my sig and been having issues which can be found in this thread.
This time around when I crashed I got the same event id error but now I got the "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down" message with a BCCode 116.
Looked around the internet and found out that the 116 error code was due to a graphics card error.
I also found a thread on evga site where someone had a similar problem with his 2 gtx 590's; they were being undervolted from factory to .913v and mine are at the same.
Could this be the reason why my pc would hang during gaming?

P.S: I've ran FurMark for a good 30 min without any hiccups.

Technically, yes...I'd revert to an older driver -- 280-series...

Maybe the 287 driver would serve you best.

I only see 285.62 driver. Will that do?

Sorry, 287 wasn't public -- Do 285.62 ~ I have to start checking the site before I recommend drivers.

Also:

It has come to my attention that several people asked on the EVGA forums for our custom driver profiles...I'll explain this a bit.

Maskedmenace@EVGA was originally my account but, now is used by our JSA ~ It's used to keep RMA's in order (our office's RMAs are all on that s/n) and Brian also enjoys that community so he posts there.

I am in the process of collaborating with several other manufacturers to create a driver for the 590 that will have no voltage lock and/or stutter issues.

It's a slow process because of how these drivers were coded and I literally have to dissect large portions of the driver on a whiteboard -- Then translate them over, only to find out they conflict with string 2.

I'm about half way done.

Am I talking a few weeks done? No, not by a long shot.

Am I talking a month or two done? Perhaps, if I don't find any more conflicting strings.

I'm not a programmer, obviously but, after writing @ 10-15 of our mobile drivers, I thought this would be easy...Ha-ha-ha; guess what? It's not.

I do welcome some assistance if anyone would like to "chip in" but, keep in mind that the 680 will be out, long before we finish.

PM me if interested but, keep in mind also, we will need testers that understand these are CUSTOM DRIVERS...So, I'll be making a post about that too, eventually.

Thanks guys.

I'm a programmer, and could help. I am not very familiar with drivers per-say but I learn real quick....
Are you working with de-compiled drivers? or have access to the source code in some form....

Sent a PM regardless, with this post in case you miss it.

Funny, I was just going to PM you about this very thing, as I was definitely one of the cats that asked Brian for a copy of those drivers..

Any way I can help, or anywhere to learn so I may be able to help for real at some point, I'm down.

I thank you all for the support and the PM's...I'll be contacting most of you guys next week.

I'm dissecting the drivers in 2 forms ~ First is the profile, itself and ~ While I originally stripped the driver of //ALL// other support, I came to the realization that I cannot do that due to the fact that many of us use a 2nd card for Physx ~ So, that tossed away 2 weeks of work, instantaneously.

The biggest issue I'm having is finding where the voltage lock actually correlates with the bios.

I've done 100s of these, especially when we release a custom card and never 1 time have I had this big of an issue.

For those of you that want to help a bit:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=171843

Read that thread and do a bit of your own dissecting ~ It will not only be a learning experience but, it will put you on the same page.

I think everyone who wants to use this will have to re-flash their BIOS on the cards and we'll have to just implement the custom, ONTOP of that bios.

That takes a bit more work at the base but, it's more than likely, necessary.

Looking at that thread... I assume you tried to just tell the driver our 590 is actually a 580 and see what happens....... cause that would solve it real quick if it worked

Also take a look at what these guys do: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/29163-v29551-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia-desktop/
(That's a link to the newest driver thread with the modded inf's at the top)
I modded the inf's to support my 8400M back when Nvidia didn't even provide the unofficial mobile drivers....
