NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 415

Hi all, I'm new here and I would like to enlist into the proud GTX 590 owners club smile.gif
The brand of my GTX 590 is by Nvidia and not by other 3rd party distributor since I got the whole rig from Dell Alienware.

I would also like to ask, how come when I run the MSI Kombustor DX11 v2.0.0 it shows that only 1 GPU is doing the processing, particularly only GPU 2?
Is there something wrong with my settings, driver or card? frown.gif

Welcome to the club dude. Kombustor has a known issue working with SLi - if you search Google there's a file you modify (kombustor.ini or similar) to enable it.

There have only been a few occasions in my life where I actually regret selling hardware...1 of them was the 9800GX2...The other is my 590...

The new drivers, at the base level, indicate that for the most part, the lock is gone...Obviously you're still limited by the TDP/OCP but, for the most part, 0.97v is safe.

For the VAST MAJORITY of you using (I'm about to generalize) anything copper rated and below ~ Keep in mind the rails aren't exactly perfect and on draw, you may experience +/- .03 so, take that into account...

As Xraze pointed out ~ Nvidia basically "let go" of the lock and once re-flashed, you get rid of the bios limitations.

Truth be told, the 590 actually does have a good platform base in terms of the profiles//development...thumb.gif

While I'm glad we have control over voltage again, the PDL is still blocking us. For example my PDL starts hitting at 0.988v which sucks. I can't test benchmarks either to know if I'm even gaining performance in games that don't have PDL on the trigger. I'm really hoping there will be some way to modify the PDL.

If the PDL exists above the OCP, it can really only be done at the driver level...

There is also a micro-stutter and fluctuation issues that exists over 1.00v so, I can certainly understand why the limit is 0.988...

Hrm...

In that case, I'd say don't go above 0.975v which, is still a big boost...

At 0.98, I had my cards at 800mhz...Which is about the point of the fluctuation issues etc...

I'll shoot out an email and get back to you guys thumb.gif

Okay explain to me real quick....

the 301.24 drivers have the voltage lock gone? So if I re-flash to my default bios I can adjust voltage like normal?

You what? 800mhz @ 0.988v that's insane drool.gif. Mine only goes up to 740mhz on 0.98v. I need 1.025v for stable 780mhz.

Nope, you have to set it in the bios using NiBiTor.

I'll post it here so you guys can see:

I found it! If you want a certain voltage with any drivers just use this method. Download http://www.overclock.net/attachments/1235
Use NiBiToR 6.4 to change the voltages to
338

Choose the voltage you want in Setting 2 and keep the other settings exactly like shown and your card will undervolt itself in 2D mode ( Idle ) . Edit: Works with latest Nvidia 301.24 Drivers. Happy overclocking! Note that 0.8225v can be too little voltage for your card in idle so you can up that a bit.

Wow, this is some interesting news. This program can be used with the stock BIOS correct?
