NVIDIA GTX 590 Owners Club - Page 416

If everyone is pretty much using stock clocks when they game, my question is, will raising voltages help performance even at stock clocks? If I'm running EVGA fan bios, do I still need to re-flash? Or is that not necessary with this program?

Will this help with my still happening crashes to desktop in SWTOR?

...

I finished Mass Effect 3. If that's the ending, then I haven't been kicked that hard in the balls since 3rd grade outside of the school gym. And while I hope for a new DLC ending, I don't think DLC as an ending was ever intentional. I think the ending presented was what they intended. And if so, then my faith in them as storytellers and a little as game designers, is severely shaken. As in *** were they thinking in that would fly? I'm convinced this is why the game was leaked. Someone on the team knew it was horrible and was hoping fan outrage would get the project decision makers to see reason. They didn't and so they didn't change anything, and just as those leakers surmised, the fans hated it and Bioware caught deserved heat for it.

And just to be clear, Bioware is my favorite studio. I really think it's a case of them spreading themselves too thin. But I guess Dragon Age 2 was a real disappointment, and a lot of people are unhappy with SWTOR, though I went straight back to it with the new patch. I'm going to reserve my final opinion until we all see what they come up with.

Regardless, this is one time where I have no problem paying for DLC for a better ending. Who also thinks Bioware is going to run with the wild fan theory floating the web since it makes more narrative sense than anything they came up with?

Though after finishing that and with SWTOR servers down on this rainy day in Los Angeles, I am feeling starved for games. I built this rig for BF3, but SWTOR sucked me away and I haven't felt the drive to go back since the game has reportedly become cheat city. Though I did log in not that long ago and was amazed how much performance in the game has improved with my 590's.

I'm totally stuck on Batman:AC and pissed the game has only checkpoints and not a save system where I can go back and beef up my Batman stats before getting stuck in the end mob fights when they start busting out stun sticks and shooting at you from the corners.

Skyrim is just too big and open for my story craving side, but even more so, for some reason I just can't get into Old World Fantasy that much lately. Meaning, I really dig Modern Day Fantasy like Harry Potter. But I'm a geek who loves comics and space opera's and anime, and I'm just kind of burnt out on old world fantasy settings much the same as I am on Apocalyptic Wasteland Settings.

I guess what I'm saying is, Max Payne 3 can't come soon enough.

Any game suggestions are welcome.

If it's any solace, your regrets make me feel reassured about holding onto mine for awhile with all the (deserved) 680 hype blowing up right now.

This unlocking reminds me kind of the go around on my last set of cards. I was interested in the GTX 295 at the time. But all the hate from the price and botiqueness of the card and the fear bombs about running dual GPU's on one card convinced my super-noob self at the time to go with two GTX 275's instead, much the same many went with two 570's instead of a 590.

And then, lo and behold, when I was shopping for new cards a year ago and researching, I kept coming up on comment after comment about how great a card the GTX 295 turned out to be, and how many preferred it over the initial 400 series.

These new drivers/unlocking of voltage, feels like the beginning of that renaissance period the GTX 295 had. I guess only time will tell.

Lastly, any word on that SLI profile from Nvidia for SWTOR? Especially now that the Jesus patch went live?

These are good days to be a GTX 590 Shinobi... Believe it.

Heh, got into reading this and thought I was back on BioWare's forums for a sec o_O

I am going to have to give those new Beta 300 series drivers a try! Sounds like they are working quite nice for 590 owners.

Yeah, I totally deserve that. My bad! There's just no one else in my world except this club to have an intelligent conversation about a game with. And I'm sure you can't have one on the BW forums.

I'm still holding out final opinion after the DLC drops. I don't mean to jump on the hate wagon. But man, I went into it with really low expectations after the response blew up. And I guess I'm amazed at how disappointing (so far) it still was.

PDL is definately a pain but hopefully they keep most games off the trigger list.

weird thing with mine i noticed today after i completely reformatted and went to adjust my voltage on my 590 through Afterburner beta and it was locked at 0913, i modded my bios a while back to a default 650/1300/1800 and voltage to 0963 and it will not move off of 0913 now that i have redone everything....... any ideas besides reflashing ??

LOL! That's ok I hear ya smile.gif

On top of fixing up the ending I wish they would build for PC and then port to XBOX. That way the game may actually push my Quad SLI dual 590 setup! ( just to keep things on topic ^_^ )

Okay thanks smile.gif So I guess it's isn't my card's problem.. what a relieve.
I also found out that why my AW2310 monitor's refresh rate will not go any higher than 60GHz..
I guess I have to get a Dual Link DVI huh? Currently using HDMI.

I found it! If you want a certain voltage with any drivers just use this method. Download http://www.overclock.net/attachments/1235
Use NiBiToR 6.4 to change the voltages to
338
Choose the voltage you want in Setting 2 and keep the other settings exactly like shown and your card will undervolt itself in 2D mode ( Idle ) . Edit: Works with latest Nvidia 301.24 Drivers. Happy overclocking! Note that 0.8225v can be too little voltage for your card in idle so you can up that a bit.

i set mine in NiBiToR and made default clocks at 650/1300/1800
.913 - .913
.925 - .950
1.025 - 1.025
limit to: 1.063
works real good with the new drivers and stable at 725 core on first core running in 3way SLi first pass, gonna see how far it will go........ thanks for the info

i dedicated GPU 2-A as physics and it will change to 3 way SLi, i was running quad SLi when running 3 monitors but when i wanna play on my 42" plasma in 1080p i run 3 way so it wont bottleneck in a single monitor situation. quad sli is great for 5760x1080 but if you switch to a single 1920x1080 its not so good. i actually like the plasma over the 3 monitor setup, i was running 3 samsung 27" LED's and it was just way too much to look at honestly...... over 6ft. wide. also just tried 750 core stable in 3 way, gonna try a little more at a time just for the hell off it even though my new default settings of 650/1300/1800 are more then enough.
