1) Do you experience microstuttering when playing a game that shows you uneven GPU usage afterwards?
2) Does your lwoer clocked work card behave like that too?

1) No, never on either...

I haven't had much time to game at home...It so happens that I'm moving Apache servers to other hosts this week so my play time has been absolutely abysmal.

In Crysis//Crysis 2 I've seen absolutely no stuttering...It's been 100% (This is the 850mhz card)

2) I run different apps on my work PC that are just AS graphic intensive BUT, are of other media.

So for example, I have 2x or 3x monitors at work, depending on what I need done and typically I'm too "tired/lazy" to switch it back to 2 so, I'm on 3 regularly.

Anyway, say my boss wants a new background for our ALX custom customers...I port open 3 windows of CS5 just because it makes my life easier, a beta-flash program I can't really speak about and typically ACDSee...

When I have them ALL open, 1 core spikes to 80% let's say, the 2nd core chills at 30%...Keep in mind, I'm USING all 3 monitors extensively and it doesn't change.

If I watch a BRD movie, say Avatar on the 3rd screen...The 1st core goes up to 90% and the second core sneaks up to 40-45% but, it's always a drastic difference.

With EVGA claiming it was/is scaling issues (Same thing for benches) I'm still under the assumption it's MOSTLY a scaling/driver issue BUT, I can//do see how OCP limiting COULD be a major factor as well...Which, as was previously stated, Nvidia will never admit to, regardless.

So the real question in my eyes atm is...Where does scaling start/end in regards to the OCP limiting the cores?

Masked I have no experience with SLI but I do know it can use both cores in windowed gaming (and by inference desktop tasks/apps) while Crossfire won't do it. But honestly I don't see both cores having the load really evenly split while windowed/desktop tasks. The numbers from the benchmarks in the reviews suggest that the card is indeed scaling better. And I also can't understand why would the low results on benchmarks while overclocked be caused by drivers or poor scaling. It would affect both scenarios and the benchmarks should scale accordingly. I know that sometimes there are invisible bottlenecks and that may be the case. The OCP argument is strong and more logically plausible IMHO.

SLI scaling in real-time apps spreads just as it would in HARD sli...50/50 or something close...this is the same w/the 580...I could show a hard example with nearly every card in my office.

However, with this card, the demand is so high on the core, it's not scaling and I'm beginning to side with the OCP argument because quite frankly, there's really nothing else that makes sense.

90/30 is a bit extreme, regardless of the benches/apps or not.

This is un efin belivable. 60+ pages and ppl still have no idea why/when OCP kicks in.
One guy wants to remove OCP, other wants to OC by setting 1V and then raise the core,

and this third after 60+ pages keeps claiming there is no throttling, although HWbot is full of bad scores with high GPU from day 1, although its visible from [H] that higher MHz=lower fps and higher OV=lower fps, yet he keeps repeating bad scaling, oh and he bases this on Adobe and movies playback. Few half@ssed semi interesting benchmarks and the rest is blahblahblah blahblahblah.,.

Any owners of an EVGA GTX590, I'm looking to buy the mousepad that came with your package so feel free to PM me anytime.

I just got my new psu installed. I don't have time tonight to fiddle much but I got a 3dmark11 score of P9218 with 680/1360/1850, stock voltage and 267.91 drivers. I think I'm going to leave it at that until I have a chance to spend some quality time getting things tuned in.

Got mine setup tonight, running at 670/1340/1770 @ stock volts, stable via 3DMark11, Heaven and Vantage. Will probably push a wee-bit more later tonight.

Also played a couple hours of Crysis 1/2, seems good so far.

Coming from the heat, power consumption and noise of 480's in SLI, this card is a welcome change.

While it may not have the OC potential that pretty much every enthusiast card has, it's still a beast - sure, 580s in SLI will beat it by clocking 170-200 mhz above this on air, but I don't think that's worth an extra $300, in addition to the heat, noise, power consumption etc. - but that's just me, and to each his own. I am very happy with my card so far... 670/1340/1770 is a respectable OC, and I could pretty much hit 720ish with a slight overvolt but i am fine with my current OC without having to overvolt, so I may leave it here for the time being.

Pics (bear with me and my crappy iPhone 4 pics!):

The GTX 590 and the GTX 480s it replaced - it was indeed hard to ship those off today, they were such awesome cards.
