(This will be my benchy post @ stock .... unfortunately, even a few MHz and its good bye stability)
270.61 WHQL was released today
Going to give them a whirl.
Surround QUAD-SLI Users (like two of us)
For those having weird SLI/Surround related trouble, I advise you to disable either BEFORE installing the new drivers if you are using the Clean Install method. Upon install, to activate Surround, the Control Panel is forcing me to use the second card now for a monitor. It will refuse to activate Surround until I move a monitor over. Looks like they have identified a problem with one card + 3 displays or perhaps just a hiccup for the Quadies, such a pain. Recommend two monitors on the top card in the two DVI connectors on top, and then on second card, monitor number 3 in either top DVI connector to avoid issues setting up the new driver.
Max Voltage Still: 0.925
Will test performance out a bit later as I am still recovering from RAID issues. I noticed a ton of computational errors yesterday in BOINC, all of them GPU accelerated WU. No OC on the GPUs, and CPU/Memory OC is stable, wasn't sure it was RAID or what but that was on drivers 270.51 just a heads up, you BOINCers.
The multi-monitor performance seemed very weak, not in game as I haddn't tried it, but its essentially dragging the Windows around terribly unsmooth, and even resizing the Windows can freeze the whole system for a second or two. Responsiveness is just awful in my opinion. After a reboot or two or twelve (fresh install of Win 7 this morning) the responsive ness has increased tremendously, not sure what was affected but its working better now in desktop. This all while Aero was on, so after post-Win7 install system performance check to unlock Aero. Leaving it on Aero Basic does indeed have similar effects of window dragging unsmoothly etc.
Some Crysis Candy:
Crysis run earlier, not very special, but thats probably GPU usage at fault there.
On the other hand, 5760x1080 totally impressed me. Average was probably 50 fps, all settings Very High, noAA. I am sure it would get worse over time, yet it still amazed me.
GPU Memory usage: ~1350 with a bit of spiking to 1400. AA puts it to 1450, it runs smooth till it spikes then it chokes down to 7fps before getting back up.
Here are a few screenies (just a note, JPG so image quality is crap):
You can see the GPU speeds, usage, memory, fps in the top left corners. Just wanted to add that the FPS is all lower than what it was actually in game. I had two apps taking screenshots at the same time from the same key, so it caused a stutter. Thats all from STEAM, hence the image quality and the lower FPS.
Apparently my PNG images are too big for ImgShack to show them uncompressed
Apparently, whatever SLI / Surround issue performance wise they had seems to work better now. If I switch to "Single Monitor Performance" while in Surround, it now gives me full QUAD-SLI performance @ 1920x1080 on a monitor, IF I leave it on Multi-Monitor its still good, but not as good as Single-Monitor. BEFORE, I had to switch from Surround to SLI or I would get around 15 fps no matter what. This a huge headache relief as I can just leave it on Surround now!
This is Surround on Single Monitor performance, compared to above, which was SLI only, not other monitors running.
Amazingly 0xAA has the same performance as 8xQAA, and to touch up on in-game performance, there was virtually no stuttering (micro or otherwise @ 1920x1080) and just marginal stuttering at 5760x1080 resolution in Crysis. It does run better than SLI GTX 580 in game at my resolution.Edited by RagingCain - 4/18/11 at 3:42pm
