Is it possible to get a 2500K to 5ghz with RS240?

I've really become infatuated with liquid cooling and will probably be buying a kit in the next week or two. As the title says, is it possible to get a 2500k to 5ghz on a cpu loop only with a RS240? Preferably below 70C? I will be using it in a CM 690II case and I want to top mount it.

The only thing that concerns me is that it will be in a pull configuration and I've heard with this case it wouldn't be possible to do push/pull on top for optimal temps. I could bottom mount it for push/pull if that would get me to 5ghz but would prefer if I didn't have to.

Possible. Yes. Depends on the chip more though. I got my 2600K to 5.0 with it. My temps are closer to 75 though, probably because I have HT on. I also got better temps with push intake.

Edit: That was at 1.48v as well though. Atm I am doing some tweaks and find that with my 24/7 OC of 4.8ghz, I am looking at 1.33v and max load temps of 60C during prime.

Well being able to say 5ghz would be awesome but I would just be happy to have what you have at 4.8ghz.

I'm running a Ven X Black the highest under load 12hrs of prime blend I had 77C, at 5.0ghz with 1.45v. Now with a good WC kit, and depending on how much voltage your chip needs to get to 5.0ghz you can very well be under 70C.

at 1.38v at 4.8ghz I was below 70C

but again it really depends on your chip. Some say getting a costa rica chip gives you ab better chance.

Does anyone think it would make a difference in terms of temperature having it in push/pull vs pull? Or would it be negligible?

Also, is there THAT much difference with an RX240 vs the RS240? I definitely will be getting a rasa kit just haven't decided between those two.

Like Penryn said... it is more about the chip then just the cooling (rad size), you could get a dual 480 setup and still not be able to reach 5Ghz if the chip is the limiting factor

have you tried OCin the chip and see what you can get with stock cooling (assuming you are running stock?)

In short if the chip can do 5Ghz... then yes a RS240 will do a great job, I have seen those chips @ 5Ghz with a H50 cooling them, but again it was most likely a solid chip over that cooler.

Until the new B3 revision board came out, my chip hit 4.9 GHz at 1.368v. with a temp of 74C give or take...

With the new B3 Revision, I am starting over and currently at 4.6 at 1.254 and temps running 63 on my highest core after 8 hours of Prime.

it's possible but your temps would be borderline. My highest temps with IBT on max with 8threads running is 59C through 15 runs. Get the rs 240 and upgrade your rad, and if you can get a different pump... i am still running ibt as we speak temps stabilize around the upper 50s for me on all cores. With ht on

Well just wanted to make sure I had enough Rad in there to make it possible. I'm hoping I got the golden ticket in terms of CPU
