Where do I put my heatsinks for the memory/VRM?

Thread Starter
I'm about to water cool my video cards, and I'm going to be ordering these MC14 heatsinks to throw on them since I'll only be cooling the GPU's. The only problem is that I really don't know where to put them, and how many I'll need to in order to cool all the proper areas. Here are the PCB's I'll be working with:

GTX 480 Super Overclock:

GTX 260 (55nm):

Any ideas?

You'll be cooling GPU only??
Don't forget you'll need to cool your RAM as well as the vrms.

Would these 14mmx14mm heatsinks fit on the vrms?

Would they be big enough for the RAM chips? lol

On this one, I assume you'll be keeping the heatsink circled in green?

You guys are SERIOUSLY looking for this dude to blow up his 260 aren't you? ALL of you missed the VRMs...

GTX480. The white heat sink (if you have it) can stay on. But you need to cool those memory chips.

GTX260. The VRMs are all near the back of the card. Some of them in the pic still have the thermal tape on them.

ALL of those that I circled MUST be cooled unless you want a dead card in a matter for hours or minutes.

Interesting, I always thought you would cool the small gray VRMs. Apparently it's not the same as a motherboard.

Yeah, I forgot my 480 already helps out with a heatsink, for some reason I keep forgetting that's one lol.

Anyway, that looks like a lot of stuff to cool, will those heatsinks that I posted in the OP suffice for everything? Or should I be looking at other things for cooling?

If one would care to read the posts, they could figure out that this clearly isn't the case, there are other things to cool as well. And I'm glad I made this thread to find out and make sure.
