My Crysis2 discussion with EA:

Thread Starter
I contacted them trying to be reimbursed or compensated in some way for this shoddy game.

Smith: Hi, my name is Smith. How may I help you?
2282141908: I am having so many issues with this new crysis2 game and I want to find out how I can be reimbursed or compensated in some way
Smith: I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you because of the issue you are experiencing
Smith: Could you please tell me what exactly the problem are you facing ?
2282141908: The game has uncontrollable flickering during intro, homescreen, and in game. I have the latest video drivers for my 5870 crossfire setup. It renders the game basically unplayable. I've tried for 2 days to fix the issue.
Smith: Is your game crashed also ?
2282141908: game doesn't crash, the screen just has uncontrollable graphics flickering.
Smith: Could you please tell me which operating system are you using ?
2282141908: windows 7 64-bit
Smith: In order to best troubleshoot your issue, I would need to take a look at your system information.

File attachment upload has started.
The file DxDiag.txt (24.45KB) was received.
2282141908: ok
Smith: Please wait while i check it
Smith: Thank you for your patience and understanding
Smith: I have checked your system details and everything is fine
2282141908: yeah I made sure everything was up to date
Smith: If you are facing in game issue , i would suggest you to please post your comments on our forums site so that our game developers can check that and provide you some better resolution . As we are at technical support and does not have knowledge about in game issue . Please go through this link :

http://www.forum.ea.com
2282141908: ok, i'll do that, but how does that fix my issue right now? This game is unplayable and I feel I should be compensated in some way, either my getting my money back or being allowed a download of a different game for free since this one I bought doesn't work.
2282141908: There are hundreds of people out there right now having the same problem.
Smith: For this inconvenience I would like to offer you a discount coupon for your next purchase through EA store.
2282141908: is it free?
Smith: yes , i would like to provide you discount coupon of 20% code for your next purchase through EA store
2282141908: While that is kind, I feel it is unacceptable considering I paid $60 for a game that doesn't work right.
Smith: I can understand your problem very well and your frustration right now , but I can provide your this discount coupon code of 20 % only as a compensation .
2282141908: ok
2282141908: It's unfortunate that I bought a product that is defective, yet I am unable to return it.
Smith: If you want to get refund for the game , we also can provide you that
2282141908: I would like that
Smith: may i know from where you purchased the game ?
2282141908: steam
Smith: As you purchased the game from Steam , they only will be able to refund for the game . What I can suggest you to provide you discount coupon code of 20% from my side
2282141908: ok i guess that will have to do.
Smith: Since you are EA valuable and loyal customer , i need to make an exception for you only to provide discount coupon code of 20% :
Smith: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
2282141908: thats all thank you

It was less than helpful ughhhhhhh.

He didn't have to give you a 20% coupon. He could have just told you to get a refund and move on.
No comprendo. You got 20% off on your next EA game and you can still return the game to steam (can't you?). What's there to be unhappy about, other than the fact that Crysis 2 seems to be below expectations?

If you are expecting anything more than completely useless from tech support your expectations are too high.

I didn't think you could get refunds from steam.

Thats the PC market for you. Many games, ranging from all publishers have release bugs and problems because of so countless user/system variables. Instead of demanding for refund, be more resourceful and fix it by asking on forums/searching google. There must be an underlying hardware issue.

Try reformating. Drivers tend to suck.

Reformatting will do nothing, it's a world-wide known issue that crossfire is not working as intended on Crysis 2.

I got the coupon, although I was smart enough to leave the code OFF my post!!

I have contacted steam about the issue, and asked for a refund.

I have done all the tricks that were posted here, they worked for a day, but now this morning I started getting flickering during the INTRO to the game. I finally found that I had to go in and adjust the brightness each and every time I play to make the flickering stop. One I touch the brightness slider and press apply, the flickering goes away for that instance of the game, it I restart, the flickering comes back.

Crysis 2 is a horrible console port, so naturally crossfire doesn't work on it properly...

I don't want to have to run 2 programs before I start the game and do an in game tweak just to make it playable. Thats utterly ridiculous.

The graphics are pretty good when it works right tho, and gameplay was fun but very short. maybe 3-4 hrs.
