New sandy bridge build :-)

Ok so im building a new rig and I have only bought 2 parts so far because they were getting hard to find and sellin like hotcakes. So I have purchased the corsair 800D chasis and the Maximus IV Extreme rev 3.0

Now as for the rest of the build I have all the parts in my system profile in my wishlist on new egg plus a few extras and I am ready to checkout as soon as I get some feedback.

My biggest question is the RAM. I have picked the ripjaw x by g.skill as its the cheapest 16 gig dual channel set I can find and got decent reviews. Reason I want so much ram is because I do a lot of 3d modeling and rendering. Is 16 gigs overkill?

Also I am purchasing the corsair h70 for my cpu cooler and replacing the stock 120mm fans which only produce 50-60 CFM a piece with 111cfm fans for better cooling at the radiator.

Check out my system specs and leave me some opinions and advice. I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks folks.

seems fine to me, but keep in mind cfms mean nothing

16gb is fine. 1600mhz would probably be better for your purpose

Are u sure about the cfms. Think about a fan in ur homellgarustds on a hot day. The more air it pushes the cooler it feels on ur face. Hence the more air it pushes through the fins the better it cools the water. At least that was my train of thought lol.

Anyways the ram is 1333 but I really was hoping I might get 1600 out of the dimms with some tweaking. I am really tight on budget for this build. Been saving for almost 7 months. So I might be able to purchase the 1600 modules but I would have to sacrifice in another hardware department.

Please explain about the CFM I want to be as educated as possible before I purchase. And thanks of course for ur input

With radiator fans, static pressure is much more important.
Obviously higher CFM will increase cooling performance, but only to a point.
High static pressure / high cfm would be the best way to go.

What is high static pressure if u don't mind my asking. I have never used any type of water cooling so I figured the h70 was an inexpensive break into that realm. So should I just ditch the large volume fans and stick with air until I do a high end water cooling solution? Thanks

Water cooling doesn't have to be high end. A simple RASA kit will set you back about $149, if I'm not mistaken.

Well I guess if ram speed isn't a huge issue then ill check into alternate water cooling set ups and research the static pressure. Thanks for the help people I appreciate it much.

another thing to consider on the RAM, you could just get 8 gigs now at 1600 Mhz and then save up for 8 more to add in at a later date... win win? lol

CFM ratings alone don't give you all the information you need. The manufacturer's CFM ratings are often taken with no resistance - a fan in just open space. You want higher static pressure fans for a radiator because more static pressure helps you to better overcome flow resistance (radiator fins in the way of the air flow, as opposed to no flow resistance in open space) and actually push air through the radiator. A 70 CFM fan is more than sufficient, as long as you have enough static pressure. For 120x25mm radiator fans, you can't beat the Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP-15 for its combination of static pressure, CFM, and quietness. I couldn't find any of those in stock anywhere, so I went with the Scythe S-Flex SFF21G fans, which are comparable in static pressure and CFM but put out a little more noise (still not THAT loud, but not inaudible).
