Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Suddenly my old IDE WD 250 no longer spins up. It's in a machine that folds 24/7 so I suspect heat as the culprit. I read some place that the motor could be "kick started" by pulsing power to it. So I connected it to an unused power supply and tried that and it still won't spin up.

What surprises me is that the drive didn't seem to feel gradually at all. It was fine for the longest time and now it's just dead. I've never seen this type of deal before so I'm wonder if you guys have.

Or maybe you know of any other kind of tricks to get the motor going again. I measured the voltage at the power entry points on the logic board and they're getting 5 and 12 volts fine. Question is if that voltage is being redistributed.

I'm also a little afraid of opening her up. But then again, the data isn't precious enough to have to seek professional help.

Thanks
