Will a Sapphire 5670 support dual 30 inch monitors? - Page 2

I use two 5770's now in crossfire, no lag what so ever when dragging between screens. In fact I can GPU fold, play games, search the net, and watch videos all on this setup without lagging.

The 5770 on its own should be able to handle those two monitors no problem, you may experience some lag if doing any 3d modelling though

If you are really interested in the cheapest solution, I think you can go far cheaper than a 5570/5670 if all you are looking for is dual monitor support @ 2560x1600. All the 4350/5540's should be able to do that.

Although I completely understand if you want to aim a little higher incase sometime in the future you need a little more graphics horsepower.

I don't think so, and I think you meant the 5450? I believe the 3 inputs on the 5450 all share the same bandwidth. Meaning I can run dual 1920x1080 but not dual 2560x1600.

From my experience with a build last year, a friend of mine was trying to run 3 monitors (all 1920x1080) on his dual slot 5770 and it didn't work (2x DVI, HDMI & DP) both his DVI slots were occupied and he tried to connect a 3rd with HDMI and called me saying there was no display on the 3rd screen.

The reason was because the 2x DVI and HDMI shared the same bandwidth.

Only when I purchased a Sapphire active dp adapter would the 3rd monitor work. Therefore that lead me to believe the that cards with dp ports have their own independent bandwidth.

I believe the 5570 is the absolute minimum required for dual 2560x1600 30" monitors.

I will be using 4 HP ZR30W monitors on a GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD3-B3 if that makes any difference.
